120 soldiers from the US have reached Bangladesh for joint military exercise. According to media reports, these soldiers are staying at the Radison Blue Hotel in Chittagong, where 85 rooms have been booked for them, but they do not have names in the hotel register. These soldiers will go back on 20 September.
An Egyptian military aircraft landed at Shah Amanat Airport in Chittagong on 14 September. The next day American troops visited Patenga Air Base of Bangladesh Air Force.
Earlier, the American and Bangladeshi army had done two military exercises named ‘Tiger Lightning’ and ‘Operation Lightning’. Their purpose was to increase mutual coordination between the armies of both countries and prepare for peace missions.

On August 31 at the Westin Hotel in Dhaka, Terence Arvel Jackson, a US Special Forces official, died in suspicious conditions. Jackson came to Bangladesh in April. Neither Bangladesh nor America has made any official comments on this incident.
It was reported in media reports that Indian intelligence agencies had also expressed concern over the matter and investigated the matter. Jackson’s body was handed over to the US embassy without postmortem or investigation, which raised many questions.

Former US ambassador visited Bangladesh 6 times in 1 year
After former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s withdrawal from power in Bangladesh in August 2024, the military and strategic relations between Dhaka and Washington have accelerated under the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus.
Former US Ambassador Peter Haas has also visited Bangladesh six times in the last one year. According to media reports, Peter Haas met leaders of such group in Cox Bazaar on 5 August who was associated with Bangladesh’s recent political movement.
