100 कंटेस्टेंट, बिना दर्शकों का एरिना और दिमागी खेल: ऐसा है अनिल कपूर के ‘इंडिया के टॉप 1%’ का सेट

The set of ‘India’s Top 1%’ in Mumbai is not like the set of a normal quiz show. There is neither separate seating for the audience nor does a contestant sit on the hot seat and answer questions. Instead, 100 participants from across the country play together in the entire arena. There is also no traditional hot seat for Anil Kapoor in the middle of the set. They will roam among these 100 contestants and ask questions. More than 100 people worked on this huge set which was built in about a month. According to set designer Varsha Jain, its biggest challenge was to prepare technical arrangements for 100 participants simultaneously. Aankhon Dekha Hall: The huge arena prepared for 100 people is the first thing that attracts attention as soon as you step into the set. The entire arena has been designed in such a way that 100 participants can sit and play the game simultaneously. There is no crowd of spectators here like traditional quiz shows. All those who appear will be part of the game. The entire set has been designed to create a direct connection between the participants and host Anil Kapoor. Anil Kapoor will not sit in front of any one contestant and ask questions, but will be present among 100 people and ask them questions. The traditional ‘hot seat’ is not for Anil Kapoor. There is a special seat in the middle of the set, seeing which at first glance it can be considered a hot seat. However, this is not a traditional hot seat. Anil Kapoor will not host the game sitting on this seat. They will roam around it and ask questions to the 100 participants present in the entire arena. That is, the distance between the host and the contestant has been kept short at the level of set design itself. There are 100 special lights installed on the ceiling. One of the most interesting things about this set is its lighting. According to Varsha Jain, 100 light points have been installed on the roof of the set. Each light is for one participant. These lights will be programmed according to the answer to any question during the game. The lighting will change with correct and incorrect answers, which will reflect the effect of the game in the entire arena. Varsha Jain told that it was technically quite challenging to program the camera and lighting simultaneously for 100 people. This is the reason why even after the set was ready, technical testing and rehearsals continued for about 10 days. The set was ready in one month. It took about a month to prepare this huge set. However, its planning had started even before this and it took about two months to prepare the design. According to Varsha Jain, more than 100 people were present daily while working on the set. After the set was ready, the cameras, lights and technical systems were continuously tested so that the game could be operated smoothly with 100 participants during the shoot. Varsha Jain said that since it was an international format, the set design guidelines had to be followed. Along with this, its own creative interpretation was also added as per the needs of the Indian audience and the show. Looks like ‘KBC’, but the game is completely different. At first glance, looking at the set of ‘India’s Top 1%’, it can be linked to Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, but there is a big difference in the format of both. According to Varsha Jain, in ‘KBC’ the host plays with one contestant at a time and the audience is present nearby. This is not the case in ‘India’s Top 1%’. Here Anil Kapoor plays with 100 participants simultaneously and there is no separate audience on the set. According to him, the vibe of the show, the energy of the host, the style of questions and the look of the set – everything has been kept different from ‘KBC’. What is the concept of ‘India’s Top 1%’? ‘India’s Top 1%’ is the Indian version of the popular British game show ‘The 1% Club’. In the show, 100 people from different professions and backgrounds from across the country play the game together. Its specialty is that there is not much emphasis on history, geography or general knowledge questions related to books. Here the contestant’s reasoning, logic, observation, ability to recognize patterns, common sense and presence of mind are tested. According to the show’s consultant Siddharth Basu, its purpose is not just to see how much bookish knowledge a person has acquired, but to see how he understands and understands the logic of the things in front of him. The game starts from 90% and reaches 1%. The method of this game is also different from other quiz shows. In the beginning the question is such that almost 90% of the people of the country can answer it. After this the level of questions gradually becomes difficult. After this, the level of questions increases to 80%, 70%, 60% and so on until it reaches a point where only 1% people are able to answer it correctly. This is the basic concept of this show – to see which participant, on the basis of his thinking and understanding, can be among the 1% of people in India who can answer the most difficult question. 100 new players in every episode 100 people play the game every episode in the show. The special thing is that the journey of prize money also progresses with this game. In the show, participants are given an amount of Rs 1 lakh in advance and can win bigger amounts as they progress during the game. The maximum prize money in the show is up to Rs 1 crore. According to Siddharth Basu, in every episode it will be seen which of the 100 participants can reach the forefront in the game. There is no rollover system to carry the amount from one episode to the next episode. No big degree is required to reach ‘1%’. One special thing about this game is that it does not require any special educational degree or professional background. Citing Anil Kapoor as an example, Siddharth Basu said that for a person to be successful, it is not necessary that he has studied in engineering or medical college or prepared for exams like UPSC. According to him, the show focuses on how far the understanding, logic and thinking ability of a person can take him. Why was Anil Kapoor chosen as the host? Anil Kapoor is hosting ‘India’s Top 1%’. According to Siddharth Basu, when he was told that an actor and performer like Anil Kapoor was being associated with the show, he felt that he was the perfect example for this concept. He says that Anil Kapoor has made his mark in his career on the basis of long hard work, dedication and dedication towards his work. Hence, they also resonate with the show’s idea that a person’s success is not determined just by his degree or bookish knowledge. Siddharth Basu also told that he is not the producer or director of this show, but is associated with it as a consultant. Siddharth Basu has worked with Anil Kapoor before. Siddharth Basu and Anil Kapoor have had work experience before also. He told that even during ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, his company and he had worked for the training and shooting part related to Anil Kapoor. Due to this experience, he is aware of Anil Kapoor’s preparation and dedication towards work. According to him, the hard work and dedication with which Anil Kapoor prepares for any project is visible for this show as well. How can one participate in the show? To participate in ‘India’s Top 1%’, the show has kept a process of open call for entry. Interested participants can register through the mentioned medium. After this they are asked some questions. Participants who give correct answers are selected for the next stage. After this the participants reach the show through a stage-by-stage selection process. The rules and selection information related to the show is made available on the website. The show ‘India Ke Top 1%’ will premiere from 19 September 2026 at 8 pm on Star Plus. The show can also be watched on JioHotstar. Overall, this show, unlike normal quiz shows, focuses on the question that who out of 100 people can reach that 1% on the basis of their thinking, logic and observation. Its huge arena, lighting prepared for 100 participants and game host Anil Kapoor roaming among them give it a different look from other quiz shows on TV.
