Demand for release of hostage in Israel intensifies

Israel demands- Humas puts up weapons

In the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, the conversation between Gaza-Israel was inconclusive last week. There are deep differences between Hamas and Israel on issues such as the return of Israeli soldiers, assistance distribution in Gaza and permanent ceasefire.

According to Reuters, Israel emphasized the end of Hamas’s arms and the end of his rule in Gaza, while Hamas demanded complete withdrawal of the Israeli army and recognition of the Palestinian state.

American envoy tour on Israel, visited aid center

American Middle East envoy Steve Witchoff arrived in Israel on 31 July to discuss Gaza-Hamas. He met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is his first Israel tour in six months.

Vitkoff and US Ambassador Mike Haqbi also visited a assistance distribution site of the US-Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in Gaza on 1 August.

According to The Guardian, Witchoff spent five hours in Gaza and said he would help in preparing a support plan by assessing Gaza’s human status.

White House spokesperson Caroline Lewitt said that Vikoff and Haqbi met the local people in Gaza and discussed the plan to improve the help distribution.

However, human rights organizations termed the tour a publicity stunt, as incidents of violence and firing at GHF sites are common.

Hamas rejected Israel’s proposal

Vitkoff discussed an all-in deal with Netanyahu, including lump sum release and weapon of Hamas.

Israel on Wednesday sent a new proposal to the mediators, including a 60-day ceasefire and hostage exchange, but Hamas denied it, as it did not include full military return and control over Gaza. Hamas called the proposal Israeli stubborn.

Humanitarian crisis in Gaza

The United Nations on Sunday warned that starvation in Gaza is now out of control. Hamas’s Health Ministry said that on Saturday, seven people were killed by malnutrition in 24 hours, including two children.

Since the war started, the death toll from malnutrition has increased to 170, of which 95 are children. More than 62 thousand people have died in Gaza.

According to the United Nations, more than 1,353 Palestinians have been killed near GHF assistance sites since May 2025, many of which were looking for food.

France, Canada, Britain will recognize the Palestinian state

France, Canada and Britain have recently announced recognition of the state of Palestinian. France said that it would formally form it at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025.

Britain said that it would do so by September on the removal of Israel’s assistance ban and not agreeing to the ceasefire.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump said that Hamas does not want peace, but ‘wants to die.’ He has asked Israel to ‘fulfill the motive’ in Gaza and intensify military operations.

Trump said, ‘Now the time has come to eliminate Israel Hamas. They have to clean it. ‘ This statement came at a time when the US has separated from mediation.
