Spanish scientists have claimed to have found a cure for pancreatic cancer. This research was done on rats for 6 years, which was led by Mariano Barbaside, a scientist at the National Cancer Research Center. Its results were published in the scientific magazine Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) on January 27.
Research found that a new therapy made by combining three medicines completely eliminated pancreatic tumors. Even after the treatment ended, cancer did not appear again in the mice.

Scientists used three medicines together
In this new therapy, scientists used three drugs together (gemcitabine, all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and neratinib). Its purpose was to simultaneously block many ways to prevent cancer. According to scientists, due to this the cancer cells could not change themselves and the treatment proved effective.
Mariano Barbaside has already said that pancreas cancer cannot be cured with a single medicine. He believes that this cancer adapts very quickly and to stop it, it is necessary to attack several pathways simultaneously.
According to research, these three medicines together attack cancer in different ways. Gemcitabine kills fast-growing cancer cells. ATRA weakens the protective layer around the tumor. Neratinib blocks the signals that give tumors the power to grow.
Using all three drugs together broke the cancer’s protection and the cancer did not return after treatment. Scientists who were not associated with this research also said that such results without relapse of the disease are rarely seen in cases of pancreatic cancer.

For the past several years he has been working on cancers associated with the KRAS gene, which is found in most cases of pancreatic cancer.
