Delhi’s Safdarjung Tomb was decorated with blue lights on Wednesday evening on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day. This initiative was taken by Gurugram-based Autism Center for Excellence (ACE).

The event was organized as part of the ongoing LightItUpBlue campaign, in which major monuments around the world are illuminated in blue. Its aim is to increase awareness and acceptance of people with autism.

Sabyata Foundation and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) also supported this initiative.

Event on the theme ‘Importance of every life’

The theme of this day, celebrated every year on 2 April, was kept as ‘Autism and humanity – the value of every life’. Blue light, considered a global symbol of autism awareness, conveys a message of peace, acceptance and understanding.

The blue lighting of the monument gave a message to the society that it is important to understand, accept and provide equal opportunities to people with autism.

ACE has been working for 11 years

ACE has been working with children and young people with autism for the last 11 years. This institution helps in developing education and life skills in personal and scientific ways.

Speaking on the event, Dr. Archana Nair, founder of the organization, said that every person has the potential to be a part of the society and people with autism bring happiness and balance in life.

The event was attended by teachers, families, supporters and community members. Through such initiatives, efforts are being made to increase awareness in the society and bring people with autism into the mainstream.
