Japan was hanged on Friday, a man who killed 9 people in 2017. For the first time in the last 3 years, the death sentence has been given in Japan. The 34 -year -old Shirishi used to contact people on Twitter and kill him. Hence he was named ‘Twitter Killer’.
According to reports, Shirishi used to contact those who wanted to die on Twitter. He then used to call him in an apartment near his Tokyo by pretending to help. He would then strangle him and kill him. Then he used to pieces his body, then hidden in his small flat in a cooler box.
His victims were 9 to 8 women, who were between 15 and 26 years of age. Japan’s Justice Minister Keyke Suzuki said that he approved the hanging very thoughtfully. He said that the crime of vein had caused panic in the whole society.
Supporters of death penalty in Japan
Japan and America are the only countries to maintain the death penalty in G7 countries. In Japan, death sentence is given by hanging and prisoners are told about it a few hours earlier. Human rights organizations criticize this as they believe that the prisoners have to face serious mental pressure due to the sudden death.
Justice Minister Suzuki said that as long as such dangerous crimes continue, it would not be right to end the death sentence. At present, there are 105 prisoners in Japan who have been sentenced to death. In 2024, in a survey of the Government of Japan, 83% of the people described the death sentence as ‘necessary’.
In 2022, Tomohiro Kato was hanged, who in 2008 attacked a truck and killed 7 people in Akihabara area of Tokyo. In 2018, Shoko Ashara, Guru of the Aum Shinriquo sect and 12 of his followers were hanged. The sect in 1995 launched the Sarin Gas attack on the Tokyo Metro, killing 14 people and thousands of sick.

Violence in anti -government protests in Kenya: 16 killed, 400 injured
The situation worsened after the major protests in Kenya on Wednesday. Amnesty International Kenya said that at least 16 people died and around 400 people were injured in these demonstrations.

Many Kenya’s civilian organizations and amnesty criticized the order, saying that live coverage can monitor police excesses and it is determined. Kenya Editors Guild called it an attack on democracy.
