China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be on a two -day visit to India from Monday. He will hold talks with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar this evening. Wang will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Tuesday.

During the Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit to India, new confidence-making measures are expected to be discussed to maintain permanent peace and harmony over the dispute over the border between the two countries.

Wang’s visit is also seen as an effort to re -improve the tension between the two countries after the deadly clashes between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in 2020.

The Chinese Foreign Minister will mainly come to India for a new round meeting of Special Representatives on the border issue with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Wang and Doval are special representatives nominated for border talks. In addition to reviewing the situation on LAC, new confidence-building measures are expected to be discussed by the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi is going to go to China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on 31 August and 1 September. Modi’s first visit to China after India-China military clashes in the Galwan Valley in 2020.

Earlier, PM Modi went to China in 2018. This will be the sixth visit of China as Prime Minister PM Modi, which is the highest visit to any Indian PM in 70 years.
