Former Chinese agricultural Tang Razjian was sentenced to death in a corruption case on Sunday. According to China’s official news agency Xinhua, Tang was taken in separate positions from 2007 to 2024 and took cash and assets of more than Rs 317.3 crore as bribe.

However, he has been granted two years of time. The court said in its judgment that Tang has been denied his political rights. The court said that all the property of Tang will be confiscated and the money deposited from the bribe would be collected and deposited in the national treasury.

The court said that this bribe caused heavy losses to the interests of the country and the people, so Tang was sentenced to death. Tang confessed to his crime and expressed regrets.

This punishment is part of President Xi Jinping’s anti -corruption campaign, in which many big leaders have been punished. Supporters say that this campaign promotes clean governance, while critics consider it a weapon to remove Xi’s political opponents.

Tang had earlier been the Governor of Gansu province and Vice President of Guangashi Autonomous Region. After him, former defense ministers Lee Shangfu and Wei Ferghe have also come under the purview of corruption.
