The US state of Pennsylvania, a strong explosion at the US Steel Plant in Pittsburgh on Monday. In this, 2 people died and at least 10 people were admitted to the hospital.
After the explosion, there were many small explosions and black smoke spread into the sky. The accident occurred at around 10:51 am. After the blast, an injured employee was taken out of the rubble after hours.
A shock was felt in the nearby areas, so the local administration appealed to the people to stay away from the scene.
Scott Bookso, Chief Manufacturing Officer of US Steel, said that due to the explosion and losses, the damage is being assessed.
He said that the employees rapidly stopped the gas supply and took out the stranded colleagues. The company is now a supporting unit of Japan’s Nippon Steel Corp and is investigating in collaboration with the local administration.
A laborer died in the explosion in 2009 in this plant. 20 people were injured in the 2010 blast. In 2014, an employee died of falling into the trench. The company has been fined earlier on violation of security rules.
