Amin has Afghan citizenship. A Pakistani ID card was also found from him.
Amin-ul-Haq, an al-Qaeda leader and a close associate of Osama bin Laden, has been arrested in Pakistan. Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) gave this information on Friday.
According to a Reuters report, the CTD had received information about the presence of Amin-ul-Haq, a senior Al-Qaeda commander, in Sarai Alamgir town of Gujrat (Pakistan), after which they conducted an operation and arrested him.
Amin ul-Haq is a resident of Afghanistan but a Pakistani ID card has been found with him. This ID card has been made at an address in Lahore and Haripur.
Amin accused of plotting terror
According to Pakistani channel Geo News, a case has been registered against Amin-ul-Haq in Punjab. He has been accused of plotting terrorism. However, the Terrorism Department has not given much information in this case.
Talking to the channel, the spokesperson of CTD said that they have got a big success in the fight against terrorism. At present, Amin ul-Haq has been sent to an unknown place for interrogation.
The spokesperson said that Amin was a close associate of Osama bin Laden. His name is also included in the United Nations’ list of international terrorists. America had released a list of global terrorists in 2001 in which Amin’s name was included.
His arrest is considered important because of his association with bin Laden and al-Qaeda for many years. However, Pakistan’s Home Ministry has not yet made any statement in this regard.

Amin went to Afghanistan after the return of the Taliban
According to reports, after living in Pakistan for 2 decades, Amin Haq returned to Afghanistan in August 2021. During this time he reached his home Nangarhar. The video of his arrival in Afghanistan went viral. This was the same period when the Taliban returned to Afghanistan.
There is no information about when he went to Pakistan again after that. A CTD official said that the purpose of Amin Haq’s stay in Pakistan is under investigation.

Doctor became Laden’s security guard
Amin was born in 1960 in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. He was a doctor by profession and treated urological diseases. In the 80s, he joined the Afghan terrorist organization Hizb-e Islami Khalis and joined the war against the Soviets. Later he joined Al Qaeda.
After joining Al Qaeda, he started handling Osama bin Laden’s security in Tora Bora, Afghanistan. When Osama bin Laden was forced to leave Sudan in 1996, it was Amin who made room for him in Afghanistan.
Helped in sending Osama to Pakistan
According to the New York Post, after the attack on America in December 2001, when Osama bin Laden was running away to escape the attack of American soldiers, it was Amin who took him to Pakistan. During this time he was the security coordinator of the Black Guard. The Black Guard used to handle Osama’s security.
A few years later, when the US army reached Tora Bora in 2007, Amin fled to Pakistan. After reaching Pakistan, he was captured by the army in 2008 but was released in 2011 because his links with Al Qaeda could not be proved.
Some reports claim that when Osama bin Laden was in Pakistan, Amin was in charge of his security for some time.
