The debate between India and Pakistan to be held on November 27 at Oxford Union in Britain was cancelled. Speakers from Pakistan and India were to participate in this debate. There was to be a debate on the topic ‘India’s Pakistan policy is just for popularity, which is sold as a security policy’.

Now both the countries have accused each other of withdrawing from the meeting. Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan had claimed that Indian speakers ran away at the last moment before the debate at Oxford Union, hence they got a ‘walkover’ (victory without a fight).

After this, Indian senior advocate J Sai Deepak termed the allegations as false and revealed that the Pakistani team itself did not participate in the debate at the last moment, after which the debate had to be cancelled.

Deepak presented email and call records as evidence. He said that the Indian team was ready for the debate, but Pakistan got the debate cancelled.

Oxford Union has not yet given any statement in the matter. Sai Deepak said that Union President Musa Harraj and Treasure Raza Nazar are both of Pakistani origin.

Oxford Union is the world’s most famous and oldest student debate society. The debate between India and Pakistan was also to take place here.

Sai Deepak said- Confirmation was received from Oxford Union, the team was ready.

Sai Deepak gave complete details of the incident on X. He told that he had received confirmation from Oxford Union last month. In which former Chief General MM Naravane, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot were to attend.

Deepak said he was later informed by the Oxford Union that Swamy and Naravane could not attend the event due to ill health, and were asked to suggest alternatives.

Deepak further said that even before I could approach the union with any option, he called me and told me that he had contacted Suhail Seth and Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi and they had also confirmed. I thought the matter ended here.

On 26th, the union called Deepak and informed him that due to short notice, Suhail Seth and Priyanka Chaturvedi would not be able to come. Priyanka Chaturvedi also clearly said that she had received the invitation in July, but the organizers kept silence for months and suddenly sent a mail on 25th November, she refused calling it unprofessional.

Information was received about Pakistani speaker not arriving three hours before the debate.

After this, Sai Deepak himself reached Britain and at the last moment included two Indian origin speakers living in Britain, Manu Khajuria and Pandit Satish Sharma, in the team. That means the Indian team was fully prepared.

But just three hours before the debate dinner, the organizer Musa Harraj (son of Pakistani Defense Production Minister Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj) called and said that the debate was canceled because the Pakistani speaker had not come to Britain. Sai Deepak has also made that call log public.

Sai Deepak had also posted an email he received from Oxford Union last month confirming his participation in the November 27 event.

The Pak High Commission had accused India of ‘lack of confidence’, but did not provide any evidence. On the other hand, Pakistani accounts shared the video of the student debate and claimed that Pakistan won 106-50. But Deepak called it ‘fake’ as the original high-profile speakers were not included.

Sai Deepak openly challenged that if the Pakistani team is still in Oxford then they should come forward and debate.
