Rohit Sharma has shared a moment related to the T20 World Cup final victory. Rohit Sharma said that there was a time when his mind had gone numb, he was not able to think of anything.
The Indian captain said- Heinrich Klaasen had scored a fifty in 23 balls, for him it was just a matter of 4-5 balls. But it was important for me to focus on the responsibility given to me.
Team India had given a target of 176 runs in the final of the T20 World Cup. South Africa were restricted to 169 runs and the match was won by 7 runs.
What was Rohit thinking in the last 5 overs…
During an event in Dallas, Rohit Sharma said, “Our whole team remained calm and executed the plan. The last 5 overs were very difficult. I was not thinking too much ahead. It was very important for me to stay in that moment and fulfill my responsibility.
We all kept calm and tried to execute the plan. Staying calm under so much pressure helped the whole team a lot. South Africa needed 30 runs from 30 balls. The way we bowled shows how calm we were. We were not thinking too much, just doing our job. This proved beneficial for us.

16th over- Bumrah came to bowl. Klaasen and David Miller were batting at a strike rate of 200. They had to score 30 runs in 24 balls. Bumrah gave only 4 runs in 6 balls. In such a condition, Klaasen had scored 24 runs in one over.
17th over- Hardik Pandya came and took the wicket of Heinrich Klaasen who had scored a fifty in 23 balls. This was the turning point. Hardik gave only 4 runs in this over.
18th over- Now South Africa needed 22 runs from 18 balls. Bumrah gave only 1 run on the first 3 balls. On the fourth ball, the strike was in the hands of Marco Jansen. Bumrah bowled him out with a brilliant inswinger. He gave only 2 runs in this over.
19th over- Keshav Maharaj and David Miller were on strike against Arshdeep Singh. 20 runs were to be scored in 12 balls. Arshdeep gave only 4 runs.
20th over- Rohit gave the last over to Hardik Pandya. 16 runs were needed. Miller hit a straight shot on the very first ball. Suryakumar Yadav was fielding in front. He took such a brilliant catch that will always be remembered. Hardik also took Rabada’s wicket in the same over. He gave 8 runs and India won by 7 runs.
