Amid violence and political crisis in Bangladesh, the central government held an all-party meeting in Parliament on Tuesday (August 6). External Affairs Minister AY Jaishankar informed all party leaders about the current situation in the neighboring country.

According to sources, in the meeting, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi asked the Centre whether foreign forces, especially Pakistan, could be behind the Bangladesh violence? The government said that a Pakistani diplomat was continuously posting pictures of the Bangladesh movement as his profile photo on social media. Therefore, this angle is being investigated.

Leaders of many parties including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lallan Singh, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge attended the meeting.

Violence broke out on Monday (5 August) amid the protests going on for 2 months in Bangladesh for reservation. After this, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country and came to India. She is currently in the safe house of Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad. Jaishankar said- Sheikh Hasina is in shock

According to sources, Jaishankar said that former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken refuge in India since Monday (August 5) evening. She is still in shock. The Indian government is giving her time to recover before thinking about what she will do next and talking to her on other issues. India has assured Hasina of all possible help.

Jaishankar said that at present more than 10,000 Indian students are stranded in Bangladesh. India has also spoken to the Bangladesh Army Chief for their safety. Protesters in the neighboring country have also targeted the houses and properties of minorities.

According to sources, the Centre said that there are a total of 20,000 Indian citizens in Bangladesh. Out of these, 8000 people have returned so far. The Indian government is in touch with its people. The High Commission is continuously working there. The government’s focus is on the safety of the minorities trapped there.
