The election results of 37 Rajya Sabha seats from 10 states came on Monday. NDA has won 22 seats and the opposition has won 15 seats. NDA has gained 10 seats. Whereas the opposition has lost 10 seats. Earlier NDA had 12 seats and the opposition had 25 seats.
Out of these 37 seats, candidates were elected unopposed on 26 seats. Elections were held on 11 seats in three states Haryana, Bihar and Odisha. Of these, 9 seats went to NDA’s account. The opposition got 2 seats. Congress MLAs cross-voted in Odisha and Haryana. In Bihar, 4 opposition MLAs did not come to cast their votes. BJP benefited from this.

4 MLAs did not turn up to vote in Bihar, NDA got 1 more seat
In the election of 5 Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar, NDA defeated the Grand Alliance in horse trading. RJD’s AD Singh lost the election. All 5 NDA candidates won the election. These include JUD national president CM Nitish Kumar, BJP national president Nitin Naveen, RLMO national president Upendra Kushwaha, Union Minister Ramnath Thakur and BJP’s Shivesh Ram.
In fact, till noon RJD was claiming 41 votes (MLAs) in favor of its candidate. But by the time voting ended at 4 pm, 3 Congress MLAs and 1 RJD MLA did not come to vote for the Grand Alliance candidate. Due to the absence of these 4 MLAs in the voting, AD Singh got only 37 votes instead of 41 votes. However, Tejashwi Yadav had kept the MLAs in the hotel overnight.

Haryana: Congress wins second seat after cross voting of 5 MLAs
The results for 2 Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana were released at 1 am, about 9 hours after voting. BJP’s Sanjay Bhatia and Congress’s Karmaveer Boudh have won. BJP-backed independent candidate Satish Nandal had to face defeat. There were votes from 90 MLAs, out of which 2 MLAs from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) did not cast their votes. 4 votes of Congress and 1 vote of BJP were cancelled, due to which 83 votes were considered valid.
Sanjay Bhatia got 27.66 first priority votes. Independent Nandal got 27.34 votes, while Congress’s Karmaveer Boudh got 28 votes. Thus, Nandal lost to Buddh by a margin of only 0.66 votes, i.e. less than one vote.
BJP had 48 votes. One vote was cancelled. Bhatia got 39 and Nandal got 8 votes in the first priority. Congress had 37 MLAs. 4 votes were cancelled. 5 cross voted. In this situation, 28 votes were left. This ensured the victory of Karmaveer Buddhist.
There was a dispute over the first vote. On Monday, MLAs cast their votes under the ‘guard’ of senior party leaders. BJP and Congress came face to face regarding secrecy. Congress raised questions on the secrecy of votes of Cabinet Minister Anil Vij and BJP raised questions on the secrecy of votes of Congress MLAs Paramveer Singh and Bharat Beniwal. It is alleged that the votes were shown to people other than authorized agents.
The commission declared Paramveer’s vote invalid. At 7 pm, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to the Central Election Commission seeking intervention. Congress candidate Karmaveer Boudh filed a complaint against Returning Officer Pankaj Aggarwal to the Commission. He alleged that the returning officers were working under pressure. At the same time, Minister Krishna Bedi demanded the Commission to invalidate the vote of Bharat Singh Beniwal also.

Odisha: BJP wins on two seats, Independent wins on one; BJD lost one seat In Odisha, BJP’s Manmohan Samal, Sujit Kumar and NDA-backed independent candidate Dilip Ray won. Santrupta Mishra of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won the fourth seat. BJD’s Datteshwar Hota had to face defeat. There was a scuffle between BJD and BJP MLAs during Rajya Sabha voting in Bhubaneswar.
