According to The Hindu report, High Court lawyer Prashant Methal has filed a complaint against Ranveer Singh at High Ground Police Station in Bangalore. The complainant has written in the complaint that Ranveer Singh made fun of revered Guliga Daiva and presented him in a derogatory and mocking manner, which has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and especially people belonging to the Tulu community.

Advocate Prashant Methal has also written in the complaint that Ranveer called Daiva a ghost and intentionally insulted him. While filing the complaint, he has demanded that strict legal action be taken against the actor as soon as possible.

Complaint lodged in Panaji also, apology was given

Even before this complaint lodged in Bangalore, a complaint had been lodged against Ranveer Singh in Panaji. On December 2, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had filed a complaint against Ranveer for hurting religious sentiments. He had also demanded an apology along with legal proceedings, after which the actor issued a public apology.

Ranveer Singh has issued an apology and wrote from the official Instagram account-

My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s brilliant performance in the film (Kantara). Being an actor, I know how much hard work goes into pulling off that particular scene the way he did and I respect him immensely for that. I have always had deep respect for every culture, tradition and faith of our country. If anything I said has hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologize.

Why did the dispute happen?

Ranveer Singh recently became a part of IFFI (International Film Festival of India). During this time, the actor on stage made fun of Chavundi (Chamunda) Devi shown in the film Kantara.

At the film festival, Ranveer Singh told the film’s director and actor Rishabh Shetty, ‘Rishabh, I saw it (Kantara) in the theatre. That was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost comes into your body. That performance, that one shot, was outstanding.

Ranveer Singh further said, ‘Have you seen Kantara? When that shot comes’. Further, Ranveer Singh himself made fun of that character by mimicking it.

Ranveer further said, ‘Is there anyone here who wants to see me in Kantara 3, they should tell this man.’
