The sexual harassment case against former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa will be heard in the Karnataka High Court today on Thursday (September 5). Yeddyurappa may appear in court in person today.
In the last hearing, the single bench of M Nagaprasanna had extended the interim order of Yediyurappa not to appear in the court personally till September 5 today.
The CID special counsel, while filing the additional charge sheet in the court, had sought time to present Yediyurappa in the court, on which Justice M Nagaprasanna granted him exemption in an interim order.
Actually, in February 2024, a rape victim girl went to the former CM to seek help. She alleged that Yediyurappa sexually exploited her. A case was registered against Yediyurappa on 14 March.
On June 13, a non-bailable warrant for arrest was issued by the Fast Track Court of Bengaluru. However, the Karnataka High Court stayed the arrest on June 14. The court had said that Yeddyurappa will have to appear before the CID.
The Karnataka High Court had also raised objections over the issuance of the arrest warrant. The court had said that Yeddyurappa is a former CM. He is cooperating in the case. Action should have been taken keeping in mind his age and his behavior.

The CID filed a 750-page chargesheet on June 27
The Karnataka CID filed a 750-page chargesheet against Yeddyurappa in the POCSO case on June 27. According to media reports, in the chargesheet, the CID has claimed that Yeddyurappa had given money to the minor and her mother.
According to reports, the woman along with her 17-year-old daughter came to meet Yediyurappa on 2 February 2024. Her daughter was sexually abused when she was 6 and a half years old. She had come to Yediyurappa to seek help in this matter.
Yeddyurappa took the minor by the hand and took her to the meeting room. Here he asked the minor if she remembered the face of the person who had misbehaved with her. To this the minor replied yes. It is alleged that during this time Yeddyurappa molested the minor.
According to the CID, the minor freed his hand and asked him to open the door of the meeting room. On this, Yediyurappa gave some money to the minor and opened the door. After this, he gave some money to the minor’s mother and said that he cannot help her.
Understand sexual harassment case in 7 points
- On 2 February 2024, a woman along with her 17-year-old daughter went to Yeddyurappa’s house in Dollars Colony to seek help in a rape case. It is alleged that the girl was molested there.
- On March 14, a case was registered against Yeddyurappa under POCSO and 354 (A) at the Sadashivanagar police station in Bengaluru based on a complaint by the minor’s mother.
- The woman had said that when she asked Yediyurappa about the molestation, he said that they were investigating whether the girl had been raped or not.
- According to the FIR, the woman said that Yediyurappa apologised and asked her not to tell anyone else about the matter.
- The woman who filed the FIR (victim’s mother) died on May 26. She was a lung cancer patient. Now the son is fighting the case. Karnataka DIG had handed over the case to CID.
- Yediyurappa’s office had released some documents regarding the matter. It was stated in these that the woman who filed the FIR has so far filed 53 cases against different people.
- The most important aspect of the case is a 16-minute video of February 2, which the woman had handed over to the police before her death. In this, the conversation between the woman and Yediyurappa and the phone conversation with the Police Commissioner can be heard.

Yedi said- I had asked the commissioner for help, she started speaking against me
Yeddyurappa had denied the allegations of sexual harassment and said- A few days ago a woman came to my house crying and saying that there is some problem. I asked her what the matter was and I myself called the police, informed the commissioner about the matter and asked him to help her. Later the woman started speaking against me.
Yedi said- I myself have brought this matter to the notice of the Police Commissioner. Yesterday the police filed a complaint against me. Let’s see what happens next. I cannot say that there is any political motive behind this. I had helped the victim financially. The timing of the FIR is suspicious, because it has happened just before the elections.
BS Yediyurappa has been the Chief Minister four times
BS Yediyurappa served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka for seven days in 2007. After this, he became CM again in 2008. In May 2018, he again took over the post of Chief Minister for three days. After this, he was the CM of Karnataka for the fourth time from July 2019 to July 2021. He resigned in 2021 after weeks of drama and uncertainty.
