An army van carrying 18 soldiers fell into a 350 feet deep gorge in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. 5 soldiers died in the accident. These soldiers of the Maratha Regiment were going towards the Line of Control (LoC) in the evening. The driver lost control of the van near Ghoda Post in Balnoi area. There were a total of 6 vehicles in the convoy. The Army has denied any terrorist angle in the accident. There was an army post only 130 meters away from the incident site.

5 soldiers lost their lives in November: In November, 5 soldiers were killed in two separate incidents. On November 4, two soldiers lost their lives in a road accident in Rajouri.
