England defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the first Test match being played between Sri Lanka and England in Manchester. Joe Root scored 62 runs for England chasing the target of 206 runs.
In the second innings, the Sri Lankan team scored 326 runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Chandimal scored 79 and Kamindu Mendis scored 113 runs. Matthew Potts and Chris Woakes took 3-3 wickets for England.
