Actor Deepak Dobriyal is currently seen in the film ‘Jugnuma’. This film, based on the life of the mountains, is being praised everywhere. Also, the actors associated with the film are also being appreciated. Be it a serious role or a comedy lamps leave their mark in every character. His character is also being appreciated in ‘Jugnuma’. In Dainik Bhaskar interview, the actor has spoken openly about this film and acting career.
Why did you decide to join ‘Jugnuma’? What did you like in the script?
I like everything of ‘Jugnuma’. The process of making this film, the direction was all good. You may not have seen the direction with so much convision, where canvas is as necessary as a whole paragraph, dialogue or monologue. The commitment about the beauty of a shot. As the sun has come under the tree and the sunlight is reduced, the shoot was stopped. The next day was shot again for the perfect scene.

Visual is a dialogue in itself. Visual in this film is a very big dialogue as it is shown to be committed by Nature. This commitment was amazing. Apart from this, there is a background score film. If you may not have seen such a film, then the mind set breaks. But there is a reason behind doing so. The way directions, photography, nature have been used in the film are the reason behind this. Apart from this, all the actors in it are also amazing. You will not seem to see that there are actors.
Your characters remain in the mind of the audience. There are also many mimes on them. What is the process of playing any character?
The process is different for each film. Like the story and direction in my recent release film ‘Jugnuma’ is taking you. You have to walk in this account and mold yourself. Different films have different mind sets. No old process is useful in the next film. I do not repeat the process myself because only then will the role be new. According to the story, director or scene, you find out in which direction the story is going.

Deepak also received awards for his role in ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.
Which character of your films has the most challenging?
I would say that all the roles were challenging. For example, my friend’s opinion about my character of ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ is that I can play Pappi’s character even while walking. He tells me that in 10 minutes you will play the role of 15 Tanu Weds Manu. but it’s not like that. I kept the voice very thin in it. My voice was very artificial. In that character, there is a man who is talkative. Talks from morning to night and there is thinness in his voice. I also did many experiments for this character. All the characters are difficult, the only thing is that how much that character gets the audience.
The character of the film ‘Sector 36’ is quite different. How difficult it was for you to play the role of Inspector Ram Charan Pandey?
The character was not difficult, it was very important to stay in the scene. The pleasure for me is that there are a few DOPs and directors, who have held camera on my character. When the camera stops for a long time, you get a chance to show your acting. The cinematographers of this film Saurabh Goswami and Aditya have given me that space together.

Deepak with Vikrant Massey in a scene in the film Sector 36.
When the camera was held on your character for a long time, then you feel very responsible. In such a situation, you work instead of spreading and focusing. I try to avoid being artificial in my character. I save my innocence and enthusiasm. In this, every kind of rolls come from serious to. This innocence takes you forward.
You have shared the screen with many legendary artists like Manoj Bajpayee, Irfan Khan, R Madhavan. Explain the learning to work with experience artist.
It is a great experience. When the big actors are together, you get a chance to test your craft. For me, working with veteran actors works as a measurement. I am very happy that I have worked with almost all the legendary actors of India.
I have not yet got a chance to work with Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani, Govinda and Rajpal Yadav. I consider these five a very big actor. Except them, I have worked with almost all the veterans. When you work with giants, then your skills are correctly known. Where do you know this reality in acting.
What have you learned from Manoj Bajpayee, Irfan Khan and KK Menon?
I got to learn different things from all three. I have learned dedication from Manoj Bhai. Manoj Bhai has a very lovely script. I also have to learn from them how to do good scripts. However, I do not know how to beat people. I want the script to find me myself. Irfan Bhai’s company was very good. Those who came to them were associated with literature.
KK Bhai’s class, dignity and work on work. Their approach and understanding is of a different level. I would also like to name Vijay Raj Bhai. He is a separate and saintly man. If they get the character according to the mind, then what performance do they give.
Did you really get the first film in the greed of Chowmin. Tell me the truth behind this whole story?
My friend is a friend named Rajiv. We used to live together during Struggle days. Both of us came to make a career in acting. When Vishal Bhardwaj’s film ‘Maqbool’ was being casting, he came to know from somewhere. He said go for audition. I refused because I did not mind. Then he said like that I will feed Chowmin on the night. I listened to this offer, because both of us had to cook.

Deepak has worked with Irfan Khan in Hindi medium and English medium besides Omkara.
He told me that you also keep your photo. I was not interested, otherwise I did not even take my photo but he kept it. When he reached there, it was found that Vishal ji is looking for an actor for a character living with Irfan Bhai. Which is not just the right hand of Irfan Bhai but also an actor. My friend did not get selected for that role and Vishal ji kept me. Then my friend said that now you will feed the chowmeen. I must have fed him chowmein 15-20 times not once.
The media publishes this story with such a heading that the first film found in the greed of Choumin. I read and think what kind of line this is. While this is not true at all.
What does success mean to you?
I can get excited again for the next role, this is success for me. For the next role, I can become a child, can start with zero, this is success. I can keep my innocence saved, this is success.
After ‘Jugnuma’, your fans will be able to see you in a project?
I will tell my fans to see that ‘Jugnuma’ first. This is a very cute film. You will find a different tightness. The film touches a different world, a different canvas, different directions, different philosophy and many more elements. Very few films are made on the mountains. The process of making a film on the mountains is quite difficult. It has taken four-five years to make this film. Sometimes Kovid, sometimes rain, sometimes not getting permission, became the reason for delay. After a lot of challenges, the film has reached the theater.
Usually I do not speak for any film but I am speaking for ‘Jugnuma’. Whoever is cinema lover, if you want to see something good, then they will definitely watch this film.
