After the arrest of Ashok Kharat alias ‘Captain Kharat’, who calls himself an astrologer and ‘Godman’ in Nashik, Maharashtra, shocking revelations are coming out one after the other. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating against Kharat is continuously receiving new complaints, due to which the seriousness of this entire matter has increased further. According to officials, in the last five days, the SIT has received more than 50 phone calls in which people have given various information against Kharat or filed complaints of alleged crimes.
Rape, extortion and obscene content
According to the agency, the SIT constituted by the state government had issued two mobile numbers a few days ago to collect information from common citizens. Since then, the team is receiving an average of 15 to 20 calls every day. In these calls, many people have also made allegations against him related to sexual exploitation, extortion and obscene content. At present the investigation team is seriously investigating all the complaints.
The woman had alleged repeated rape
Nasik Ashok Kharat, who runs the temple trust in Sinnar area, was arrested on March 18. A 35-year-old woman had accused him of repeatedly raping her for three years. After the arrest, many other women also came forward and made similar allegations, after which the police have registered a total of eight FIRs so far.
Diary found from Kharat’s office
During the investigation, SIT visited Kharat’s office in Nashik on Friday. During this time the forensic team was also present with him. The team has recovered many important documents, files and a diary from the office, which have been seized for investigation. Officials believe that these documents may reveal new revelations in the case.
Kharat’s arm license canceled
Meanwhile, Nashik district administration has also taken strict action and suspended the arms license of Kharat. The administration says that due to many serious cases registered against him, there was a fear that he might use weapons to threaten the victims. According to the information, Kharat had taken the license of the revolver in the year 2012, which was recently renewed in 2024 and its validity was till 2028.
Weapons and bullets recovered
Police have already recovered weapons and bullets from them. This action has been taken under Section 17(3) of the Arms Act. SIT has also assured that the identity of the complainants will be kept completely confidential. The investigation is still going on and more big revelations are expected in the coming days.
