The thugs introduced themselves as Delhi Police officers in front of a woman working in a pharmaceutical company. The accused told the woman that her name had come up in a money laundering case related to Jet Airways founder-chairman Naresh Goyal. Goyal is currently in jail. After this the thugs recovered Rs 1.7 lakh from the woman.

Booked a hotel room for enquiry. On November 19, thugs called a 26-year-old woman living in Mumbai and told her that her name had appeared in a money laundering case. After convincing the woman, the thugs shifted the voice call to video call. After this, the woman was asked to check in to the hotel room for further questioning.

After checking in at the hotel, the thugs asked her to transfer Rs 1 lakh 78 thousand to verify the woman’s bank details through video call. After this, the thugs also made the woman remove her clothes for body verification.

When the woman realized that she had been duped, she lodged a police complaint on November 28. The police is investigating the matter

Fraud happened earlier also in the name of Naresh Goyal Earlier, Mr. Paul Oswal, Managing Director of textile company Vardhaman in the name of Naresh Goyal, was also digitally arrested by the thugs. He was defrauded of Rs 7 crore.

The police had arrested two people in this case. Rs 5.25 crore were also recovered from him. The police had identified seven more people of the gang.

  • In case of initial doubt, disconnect the phone immediately. Avoid long conversations on the phone.
  • Be sure to immediately verify the call coming from an unknown number with an app like TrueCaller.

  • There will be a fraud list in the form. Click on the option regarding your complaint.
  • Also upload the screenshot of fake call or message in it.
  • Finally write your mobile number and name.
  • Submit it after captcha code and OTP verification.
