Mumbai Police said that 4 Navy personnel and 9 civilians traveling on the boat died in the accident. There were about 110 passengers, including 20 children, in the Neelkamal boat with a capacity of 80 people. Police have registered a case against the driver of the navy boat that collided.

Another video of the incident surfaced on Thursday. In this, the Navy is seen rescuing people drowning in the sea. Women and children were also included among the people drowning. They can be heard screaming and shouting in the video.

Boat driver engaged in rescue said – first saved women and children, people were crying there

  • Arif Bamne of Mumbai Port Trust, who was involved in the rescue, said – We were going from Jawahar Deep to Mumbai on Wednesday evening, at the same time we got information about this accident. When we reached there we saw that people were shouting for help. Some people were crying.
  • We first thought of saving women and children. Before us, a fishing trawler and another tourist boat had already reached the spot for rescue. Three to four foreigners were also among those shouting for help.
  • We tried to save as many people as possible. We rescued around 20-25 people. He was transferred to a Navy boat. A little girl was unconscious. Water had entered his lungs. We applied pressure on his chest, after which he started breathing again.

Rescued by 11 Navy boats, 4 helicopters

According to information, relief and rescue operations were carried out with the help of Navy, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Coast Guard, Yellowgate Police Station 3 and local fishing boats.

11 boats of Navy, 3 boats of Marine Police and 1 boat of Coast Guard were involved in the rescue operation. 4 helicopters also engaged in the rescue operation. The passengers were brought back to the Gateway of India. From where he was admitted to different hospitals.
