This is what Manisha Soni (29) of Udaipur has to say. Manisha Soni, who was in coma, completed her journey till Sony TV’s popular show Master Chef India Season 9 on 7 January. Even when Manisha was cooking on the stage of Master Chef India, her body was vibrating. Hands were trembling, body was not cooperating. Manisha is suffering from secondary Parkinson’s disease. This disease keeps their body in constant vibration. Manisha says that despite the illness, she wants to do something big in the field of cooking, create her own identity and become an example for those who give up their dreams due to fear of illness or circumstances. It is his wish that there should be a platform for those living amidst struggle who want to do something. She wants to open a café and is working towards it. Dainik Bhaskar talked to Manisha. This is how Manisha reached the show: When Manisha was selected for Master Chef India Season 9, first of all her first round was held in Jaipur. Manisha was selected out of 100 people and was called to Delhi for the second round. Dishes had to be prepared and taken from home. Manisha prepared water chestnut and sweet potato halwa and took it away. After this information came that she had qualified for Mumbai. There was a condition that there would be one partner. Manisha tried a lot for this but could not understand anything. The partner also had to be of blood relation, then Manisha made father Ratan Sharma as her partner. Both went to the show in Mumbai. When asked to prepare two dishes there and asked for the list of ingredients in advance, Manisha sent it. The show was shot on 5 December 2025 and aired on 7 January 2026. Judge said – If we get demoralized, we will bring out your courage. In Master Chef India Season 9, judges Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, Kunal Kapoor liked Manisha’s dish Twist Kebab and Two in One Kheer very much. He became emotional with Manisha’s courage and spirit and praised her courage. Manisha was given a specially signed apron. The judges said that if we ever get demoralized, we will remember Manisha’s courage. When Manisha was seven years old, Manisha told – I don’t even know when cooking became a passion. When I was seven years old, my mother’s BP became low and she fell ill and was taken to the hospital. I was alone at home, then I thought porridge would be good for mother, so I made it. I added ten pinches at a time, trying not to reduce the salt. The porridge had become bitter. Later mother told that she also ate bitter because one was prepared by my daughter alone in the kitchen and the other was for low BP. Everyone’s name is different in the contact list. Manisha said – My father Ratan, mother Sarita and brother Gaurav are with her at every step. Despite this problem, they help him completely and boost his enthusiasm. In the contact list of my mobile, I have kept mother’s name as Life Line, brother’s name as My Support and father’s name as KCP (Kitchen Cooking Partner). Manisha said on Master Chef India Season 9 – Papa and I made Twist Kebab and Two in One Kheer there. We asked for five minutes for final touch and we were given. We went to the kitchen there and were giving touch, then a judge came and said, increase the flame on high, then I said, you will get burnt, you have to eat. This was what I had in mind to make good dishes. Papa and I had made it together. Later on the stage, the judge asked why cooking, so I told that so that I can take cooking to the next level and secondly, so that I can know what are my shortcomings and good qualities. I got to learn a lot there. Manisha had gone into coma in 2011. Manisha’s father Ratan Sharma told – in 2011, when Manisha had brain fever. The temperature of fever did not go down. He was given a compress of ice in the winter month of January. Only because of that the temperature came down. Meanwhile, Manisha went into coma. At that time he had meningitis. Now Manisha is suffering from Parkinson’s disease and her treatment continues even today. Manisha got treatment in Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Udaipur and is continuing even today. Manisha passed 12th in English medium from New Tulip International School, Ahmedabad. Manisha’s father Ratan Sharma, who has been living in Udaipur since 2021, told that he is originally a resident of Chudi Ajitgarh village located on Mukundgarh-Mandawa road in Jhunjhunu district. Manisha has worked in the finance wing at AK Birla and KK Birla. Most of the jobs remained outside and later he was transferred to Udaipur. Ratan Sharma retired in June 2021 and is living in Udaipur (New Navratna Complex). His son Gaurav is in job. Wife Sarita is a housewife. The journey from coma to Master Chef is no less than a miracle. Manisha’s mother Sarita Sharma said – Daughter, coming out of coma and reaching the stage of Master Chef is no less than a miracle, and Manisha has done this miracle with her courage. She says Manisha is our beauty.
