Microsoft’s server faced a technical glitch on Friday. Due to this, the operations of airlines, TV telecast, banking and many corporate companies have been affected across the world. There is a problem in check-in and ticket booking at airports across the world including India, due to which flights are either getting delayed or cancelled.

In India, four airlines – IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air and Air India Express – reported that their booking, check-in and flight update services were affected by this technical problem. People are getting upset due to non-availability of services at the airport.

Most of the corporate companies in Hyderabad and Bangalore are said to be under virus attack. The systems are restarting after getting blue screen. Many companies in Hyderabad have asked their employees to switch off the systems for the next 2 hours.

Microsoft said – the problem has been detected. There has been a problem in Microsoft’s Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 services. Microsoft said, “We are aware of the problem and have deployed several teams to solve it. We have found out the reason for this.”

Booking, check-in and other online services affected

  • Akasa Airlines said that some of its online services will be temporarily unavailable at Mumbai and Delhi airports. Some of our online services including booking, check-in services will be temporarily unavailable.
  • SpiceJet said- We are currently facing a technical problem in providing updates on flight disruptions. Our team is actively working to resolve it. Sorry for any inconvenience and we will inform you once the problem is resolved.
  • US ultra low-cost airline Frontier wrote on social media platform – Our systems are currently affected by a Microsoft outage, which is also affecting other companies. During this time, bookings, check-in, access to your boarding pass and some flights may be affected. We appreciate your patience.
  • Air India Express said- Due to digital infrastructure issue, many airlines and airports have been affected globally. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Sky News goes off air in Britain
Sky News channel in Britain has stopped broadcasting due to technical problem of Microsoft. The company’s executive chairman says that the channel has not been able to broadcast live since this morning.

Australia’s telecom company Telstra Group said it is also facing disruptions. The company said, “Some of our systems are affected by a technical problem with Microsoft. This problem is causing some disruption for some of our customers and we thank you for your patience.”
