New revelations are continuously being made in the case of Ashok Kharat, who calls himself ‘Captain’ and ‘Cosmology Expert’ in Nashik, Maharashtra. The investigation has revealed his network, assets and high-profile connections. Police have found signs of 5 human sacrifices, forensic investigation is being conducted to confirm them.
In the SIT raid, more than 100 suspicious videos, Rs 8 lakh in cash, a pistol and a large amount of documents related to property have been recovered.
Five bullets of the pistol are missing, which has deepened the suspicion of human sacrifice. Till now, 8 cases have been registered against him under rape, blackmailing and anti-superstition laws.
Accused of blackmailing by making obscene videos
It is alleged that Kharat used to trap women in the name of ‘purification’ and tantric measures. He targeted those suffering from illness, family disputes or those wishing to have children. He used to blackmail by making videos with spy cam.
SIT has detained his former office assistant Neeraj Jadhav. It is alleged that he used to make obscene clips by accessing CCTV footage from the laptop.
Police have seized two laptops and more than 50 property documents. The victims and the network are being identified through forensic examination of the video.
Claims to have visited 154 countries, visited Turkey 15 times
Kharat described himself as a captain of the Australian Merchant Navy and a cosmology expert. He claimed to have visited 154 countries and knew 12 foreign languages. He went to Turkey 15 times in the last 5 years.
According to the police, the accused had identified himself as a proven astrologer.
Empire worth 1500 crores, ‘miraculous honey’ worth ₹9 lakh kg
Kharat built a benami empire worth about Rs 1500 crore in 10-12 years. He sold honey under the name ‘Elvish Honey’, which he said was brought from the sea caves of Turkey. Used to claim that it increases sexual potency. Its price was kept up to Rs 9 lakh per kg. Investigating agencies suspect that black money was converted into white.
Network spread in five cities, control room in 3.5 acres

The matter has become political after Kharat’s relations with leaders and officers came to light. The administration transferred Deputy Collector Abhijeet Bhande Patil. A land partnership between his wife and the Kharat family came to light. Real estate and business connections are being investigated, while Congress leader Harsh Vardhan Sapkal alleged that a minister had conducted ‘Aghori Puja’ to become the CM.
State Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar had to resign. In one photo, she was seen doing ‘Paduka Puja’ of Kharat.
Here on Tuesday, during the appearance in Nashik court, the crowd pelted stones at the police van. The court has extended Kharat’s police custody till March 29.
