Producer-director J., who launched ‘RX100’ fame Karthikeya and actor Sampurnesh Babu in Telugu cinema. Mohan Kant has recently completed the shooting of the films ‘Guns and Gangs’ and ‘Mission 007’. His film ‘Ujjain’ is coming next. He had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar regarding these projects.

Question: How did the idea of ​​making the film ‘Ujjain’ come and why was the city of Ujjain chosen?

answer: My previous film ‘Mission 007’ was based on Pakistan-India. After this I started work on the second film ‘Guns and Gangs’. I am a great devotee of Mahakal and have been to Ujjain two-three times with my children. I felt that our Telugu and South Indian people have very little knowledge about Mahakaleshwar and its surrounding historical places like Kaal Bhairav ​​Temple and Ganesh Ji Temple.

Even not many people know about Omkareshwar. So, following the orders of Mahakal, I decided to make a film centered on all these places. Its aim is to show the Mahakaleshwar Temple and its history through the film. This film will be released in three languages, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

Question: What is the concept of ‘Ujjain’? Is it both mythology and modern story?

answer: This is a completely modern story, but it will have a mix of mythology elements. The story focuses on a man who does not believe in God and questions everything logically. Many people are troubled by his arguments. Suddenly he goes to Mahakaleshwar, where a case of the Archeology Department related to an old Shiva temple comes to the fore. After going there he gets answers to all his questions. The film will also show how the Mughal Sultans came from Delhi and tried to destroy the temple and how it could not be destroyed with time.

Question: What kind of research related to Ujjain has been done for the film?

answer: Research focuses on the fact that the Mahakaleshwar temple that we see today was demolished in the past by the Mughal Sultans of Delhi. Shivalinga and the idol of Lord Shiva were thrown around. Later many kings rebuilt the temple. The present temple was even more grand than the one which was completely demolished. Besides, the history of many nearby temples is also included in it.

Question: Who will play the title role in ‘Ujjain’ and when will the shooting start?

answer: The title of the film ‘Ujjain’ has been registered. The name of the hero playing the title role in the film is ‘Kaal Bhairav’. There is no big star cast at present. We are giving opportunities to new artists. Four artists and technicians are coming from Hyderabad, while the remaining artists will be selected through screen test in Bhopal.

The main characters include two officers of the Archeology Department, two police inspectors, a constable and a main character named Mahakal. After reaching Indore, I will go to Ujjain, where shooting will take place around Mahakaleshwar.

Question: Which genre of cinema excites you the most?

answer: I love showing history. me even in childhood ​​​​​Highest marks were obtained in History subject. If someone tells me something related to history, I remember most of it.

Question: What is your view on storytelling combining mythology and modern or future era in the South?

answer: I don’t follow any trend. I make films whatever comes to my mind. First I am making ‘Mission 007’ for the country, then the female centric ‘Guns and Gangs’ and now the historical and mythological film ‘Ujjain’. 90 percent of the artists in my three films have been local talent from Madhya Pradesh. In ‘Mission 007’, the heroine, character artist and parents were all locals.

He was the same artist in ‘Guns and Gangs’. The lead actors for ‘Ujjain’ will also be selected in Bhopal. Also, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has proposed cooperation and said that subsidy will also be given after the completion of the film.
