The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested eight policemen from Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday for harassing a police constable in custody. The arrested policemen include an DSP, an inspector and an assistant sub-inspector.
The accused policemen have been instructed to deposit their weapons and other government goods in police lines. On July 21, the Supreme Court ordered the CBI to register an FIR in the case of detention and inhuman torture a police constable in Jammu and Kashmir and to pay compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the victim’s union-ruled Jammu and Kashmir administration.
