भास्कर अपडेट्स: पीएम मोदी डिग्री विवाद, दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने दिल्ली यूनि​वर्सिटी से मांगा जवाब

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought response from Delhi University (DU) on pleas seeking apology for the delay in filing an appeal challenging its order relating to disclosure of details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bachelor’s degree. The bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela gave 3 weeks time to DU to register its objections on the petitions.

The bench was informed that there has been a delay in filing the appeal challenging the single judge’s August order. Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta appeared for the respondent (DU), the bench said. Objections to petitions seeking condonation of delay can be filed within 3 weeks. The reply to the said objection, if any, by the appellants may be filed within 2 weeks thereafter. The next hearing will be on January 16.

The bench was hearing appeals filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, RTI activist Neeraj Sharma and lawyer Mohammad Irshad. On August 25, the single judge had set aside the CIC order, saying that just because Prime Minister Modi holds a public office, all his personal information cannot be made public.
