The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has dismissed reports that India have stopped buying oil from Russia under US pressure.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday- India takes decisions accordingly and the situation in the world.

In fact, some media reports recently claimed that India’s official oil refineries stopped buying Russian oil last week, as US President Trump has warned India not to buy oil from Moscow.

Jaiswal said that India and America are a global strategic partner. The partnership between the two countries has faced many challenges. India is confident that this partnership will continue to move forward.

No comment on buying oil from Pakistan

The statement came when US President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on India from 7 August. The Ministry of External Affairs has responded to the question of India stop taking oil from Russia under the pressure of America. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said in a weekly press briefing on Thursday that India takes decisions accordingly.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had warned India not to buy oil from Moscow. At the same time, when he was questioned on Trump’s statement in which he said that India can buy oil from Pakistan one day. Jaiswal refused to comment on this and said, “I do not have to comment in this matter.”

Jaiswal said that the Indian government is reviewing the situation on the announcement of US sanctions on Indian companies trading with Iran. He said- The government has noted these sanctions and it is being considered.
