Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that his country is ready for “meaningful talks” on all disputed issues with India. He made this statement in a conversation with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott. Sharif also appreciated the role of Britain in which he helped reduce Indo-Pak tension.
However, India has already made it clear that it will talk with Pakistan only on the issue of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and terrorism.
The conversation was proposed two months ago
This is not the first time Sharif has proposed talks with India. Earlier in May, Sharif also said on a tour of Iran that Pakistan wants peace and is ready to talk to India for this. We will solve all our issues including Kashmir according to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) proposal.
We are ready to talk peacefully on issues related to the Indus River with our neighbor. We are also ready to talk to promote business and combat terrorism, provided they (India) are serious.
Pakistan-Britain relations discussed
Sharif and Marriott discussed the situation in South Asia and Middle East and Pakistan-Britain relations. Sharif welcomed the UK decision that allowed Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to be resumed to England.
Sharif greeted Britain’s King Charles Third and Prime Minister Keir Stmper and hoped to meet the British leadership at the end of the year.
