Before joining politics, Abhijit Gangopadhyay was a judge in the Calcutta High Court.

The uproar continued on 25 July during the discussion on the budget in Parliament. The controversy continued over the remarks made by BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay a day earlier in the Lok Sabha. The opposition is demanding an apology from Gangopadhyay.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also criticized his own party member. He said that Gangopadhyay used wrong language. If someone hurts the dignity of the House, then it is sad.

Actually, Gangopadhyay, former judge of Calcutta High Court and MP from West Bengal, was speaking on economic issues on the second day of the Parliament session. During this, opposition members commented. On this, Gangopadhyay said that the learned members do not know about this (economic issues), they should learn more.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi made a comment on ‘Godse’. On this, Gangopadhyay said that do not talk like a fool. After this there was an uproar in the House. Opposition members opposed the words spoken by Gangopadhyay.

After this, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also said that everyone should follow the orders given by him. Members should put forward their views, participate in the discussion, but should not make such comments which are not in accordance with parliamentary traditions. After this, Gangopadhyay’s controversial words were removed from the record.

Argument between Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi and BJP MP Ravneet Singh Bittu
When the Lok Sabha resumed after lunch on Thursday, there was a debate between Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi and BJP MP and Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu. Channi mentioned the assassination of Bittu’s grandfather and former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.

Channi said that Bittu, your grandfather was martyred. But he died the day you left Congress. On this Bittu said that my grandfather Sardar Beant Singh sacrificed his life for the country, not for Congress.

Bittu further said that Channi is talking about poverty, but he is the richest man in Punjab. If he is not the richest and most corrupt man in Punjab, then I will change my name. Meanwhile, when Channi said something about fair skin, Bittu commented on Sonia Gandhi. There was an uproar over this.

Channi came out in support of Amritpal, BJP surrounded him
Former Punjab CM and Congress MP from Jalandhar said that youths like Sidhu Moosewala are being killed in Punjab. Farmers are being called Khalistanis. Manipur violence, Hathras rape case, violence against wrestlers, all are emergencies.

Channi alleged that BJP people talk about the Emergency of 1975, but keeping an elected MP in jail under the National Security Act is an ‘undeclared emergency’. On this, the BJP said that Channi was referring to the jailed extremist Amritpal. This proves that the Congress is with the Khalistanis.

Seeing the controversy growing, Congress distanced itself from this statement. On Thursday night, party leader Jairam Ramesh said in a post on Twitter- The views expressed by Charanjit Singh Channi are his own. Congress has nothing to do with this.
