Rashtriya Swayamsevak (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said that Keshav Baliram Hedgewar had founded the RSS with the aim of liberating the country from foreign rule and ending divisions among Hindus.

He said that Hedgewar believed that lack of unity in the society was the main reason for repeated slavery. The Sangh chief said Hedgewar had worked on several avenues, including political and armed resistance, to end British rule.

Bhagwat said that while working for independence, Hedgewar realized that the British were not the first external rulers to enslave Indians. According to him, the problem was not just a force coming from outside, but also a deficiency within the society.

Bhagwat was speaking after the inauguration of Sri Keshava Sphoorthi Temple at Kandakurthi village in Telangana’s Nizamabad district on Saturday. This village is the ancestral village of Hedgewar. He said- There was some deficiency in us, due to which we had to face defeat again and again. Therefore it was necessary to remove that deficiency.

4 things from Bhagwat’s speech…

  • Hindutva means living together with others, following one’s own path and respecting others. The prayers of RSS also show these qualities and the same values are developed in those who come to the shakha.
  • Hedgewar was in favor of making Hindus strong, fearless and good human beings. Hedgewar believed that if these shortcomings were not removed, the country would have to struggle for independence again and again.
  • RSS was not established against anyone. It was started not to attack anyone, but to free our motherland from slavery.
  • As Hedgewar had thought, the workers working in the same direction are active today and are engaged in strengthening the society. The Sfoorti Center built in Kandakurthi will inspire people to work selflessly for the country.
