A video of Girdhari Lal Sahu, husband of Rekha Arya, Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Development in Uttarakhand Government, has surfaced. In which he is saying that in Bihar a girl can be found for Rs 20-25 thousand.

The matter is of Someshwar Assembly of Almora, in which while addressing the BJP workers, the minister’s husband is seen taunting some boys for not getting married. He says to the worker sitting in front – “Come with us, we will get you married.”
Regarding this entire matter, Uttarakhand Pradesh Mahila Congress President Jyoti Rautela said-
This is a direct insult to the women of the entire country and Bihar. This statement also exposes the distorted mentality of viewing women as objects. Rekha Arya should come in front of the media along with her husband and apologize
Controversial statement given in preparation for 2027
Rekha Arya, who was elected MLA from Someshwar in 2022 and became a minister after victory, has started preparing for 2027. Naveen how old are you son? You are still young. You weren’t even married. Then will you marry in old age? By now there would have been three or four children. We would have brought the girl for you from Bihar. In Bihar it is available for Rs 20-25 thousand. Let’s get you married with me.

Angered by this statement, Uttarakhand Pradesh Mahila Congress President Jyoti Rautela said – This kind of thinking works to normalize social evils like human trafficking, child marriage, women exploitation and sexual crimes, the minister’s husband has worked to tarnish the name of Uttarakhand.

Jyoti Rautela further warned that if the government takes this matter lightly or gives protection to the culprits, then Mahila Congress will agitate from the streets to the House. He said that in protest against the Ankita Bhandari murder case and this statement, the residence of Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya in Yamuna Colony will be surrounded on January 2, 2026.
Mahila Congress says that any kind of attack on the dignity, safety and respect of women will not be tolerated and the state government will have to decide its moral and constitutional responsibility in this matter.
