Violence broke out in Bangladesh late Thursday night after the death of youth leader Usman Hadi. Protesters burnt two media institutions.
Violence has once again intensified in Bangladesh. Protestors on Thursday burnt the offices of the country’s largest newspapers, Daily Star and Prothom Alo. After the attack, about 25 journalists remained trapped in the newsroom for 3 hours.
The protesters also torched the offices of Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League. A shop near the Prothom Alo office premises was also set on fire. After this incident, a girl was seen saving books from the shop.
The violence erupted on Thursday after the death of Sheikh Hasina’s opposition leader Usman Hadi. Hadi was campaigning on 12 December when he was shot in the head.
