Violence against Hindus is not stopping for some time in Bangladesh. Last two days, on Friday and Thursday, three temples were targeted in Bangladesh. The attackers attacked these temples and destroyed many statues.
Haluaghat police in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district said attackers attacked Bonderpara temples in Shakui union on Friday morning and broke two idols. No case has been registered yet nor has anyone been arrested in this incident.
On Thursday morning, the idol of Polashkanda Kali temple in Haluaghat was attacked and broken. Police have arrested a 27-year-old suspect in this case.
Let us tell you that according to the Government of India, till December 8 this year, more than 2200 cases of violence against Hindus have been reported in Bangladesh.
Attack on Kali temple in Birgunj on Tuesday
Earlier on Tuesday, 5 idols were vandalized in Jharbari Shasan Kali Temple in Birgunj. On this incident, temple committee chairman Janardan Roy had said that we had never seen any such incident before.
Two weeks ago in Bangladesh, fundamentalists had burnt down the ISKCON Namhatta Center in Dhaka. In the attack, the items of the temple including the idols of Sri Lakshmi Narayan deity were completely burnt.
2200 attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh till this year
Indian Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh, in response to a written question in the Lok Sabha, said that till December 8 this year, 2,200 cases of violence against Hindus and other minorities were reported in Bangladesh. He said that the Indian government has taken up these matters with the Bangladesh government.
Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the Indian High Commission in Dhaka is keeping an eye on the situation. He said- India hopes that the Bangladesh government will take all necessary steps for the safety of Hindus and other minorities. The same thing has been reiterated during the visit of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to Bangladesh on December 9, 2024.
He also said that 112 cases of violence against Hindus have been reported in Pakistan till October this year.
Attacks on Hindus are increasing continuously in Bangladesh Anti-India sentiments have strengthened in Bangladesh since the fall of Sheikh Hasina government on 5 August 2024. Apart from this, religious places associated with minorities are being continuously targeted.
Hindu leaders are receiving threats. ISKCON-affiliated religious leader Chinmoy Krishna Das has been in police custody since November 25 on charges of treason.
Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has called the head of the interim government Mohammad Yunus a fascist. In a statement issued on December 15, a day before Bangladesh Victory Day, he had said that Mohammad Yunus was leading a fascist government. This government is anti-independence and supporter of fundamentalists.
