The victim woman lodged a complaint against 4 people at Kaliganj police station on Monday afternoon. The one accused, Hasan (45 years), who has been detained by the police, is a resident of a village in the same area.

It is alleged that during this time the woman’s hair was cut, she was beaten and a video of the entire incident was made on a mobile phone.

The victim woman was admitted to the hospital in Kaliganj area after gang rape.

Raped relatives after locking them in a room

According to police and local people, the woman had purchased a house and land in the village about two years ago. He had taken this land from the brother of accused Shaheen. Ever since he bought the land, Shaheen was continuously harassing him and demanding money from him.

Two male relatives of the woman had come to meet her on Saturday evening. At the same time Shaheen and Hasan forcibly entered the house. They locked the woman’s relatives in a room and took the woman to another room and raped her.

After this, the accused dragged the woman and her relatives out of the house, tied them to a tree and falsely accused them of obscene activities.

The woman lives in the same village with her 10-year-old son. On Saturday night, local people saw the woman in critical condition and admitted her to the hospital.

There was a delay in registering the case due to the woman’s treatment

The victim woman told the police that the accused kept scaring and threatening her ever since she bought the land. Jelal Hussain, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj police station, said that there was a delay in registering the case due to the woman’s hospital treatment.

At present one accused has been arrested and raids are being conducted to nab the remaining accused. Police have said that legal action is underway in the case and every effort will be made to punish the culprits.

3 Hindus murdered in Bangladesh in 18 days

Three Hindus have been murdered in Bangladesh within 18 days. After the murder of Dipu Chandra on 18 December, a Hindu youth was beaten to death by the mob on 24 December. After this, on December 29, a Hindu employee was shot dead inside a garment factory in Mymensingh district. The incident took place at Sultana Sweaters Limited factory in Bhaluka upazila.
