Bangladesh has asked Pakistan to apologize for the 1971 massacre. Actually, PAK Deputy Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar visited Bangladesh. Here he said that the 1971 dispute with Bangladesh has been resolved.

However, Bangladesh has rejected Pakistan’s claim. Foreign Affairs advisor Tauheed Hussain clearly stated that only a strong relationship between the two countries can be formed by solving the old issues.

In fact, in the 1971 war, the Pakistani Army was accused of rape, murder and arson with thousands of Bangladeshi women. Regarding this, Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan has also apologized 2 times from Bangladesh.

Dar also called for Islam to improve relations with Bangladesh. He said in response to a question of journalists- Islam also asks us to purify our hearts.

Bangladesh termed Pakistan’s claim wrong

Ishaq Dar was on a two -day visit to Bangladesh on 23 and 24 August. He met Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus and Foreign Advisor in Dhaka. After this, while answering the questions of journalists, the Pakistani minister said that these issues were resolved in 1974 and then during the visit of Pervez Musharraf in 2000.

Dar said that there are historical documents of that time (1974) which are available with both countries. Dar said that now both countries should start afresh and work together like a family.

However, Bangladeshi Foreign Advisor flatly denied this. He clearly stated that he does not consider the claim of the Pakistani minister to be correct. He said that if this had happened, the dispute between the two countries would have been settled.

Bangladesh 4 demands from Pakistan

Bangladesh issued a statement repeating his old demands from Pakistan. It states that Pakistan should be resolved old and historical issues such as the 1971 massacre genocide, proper distribution of property at the time of sharing, transfer of foreign aid for cyclone victims and returning of Pakistani citizens trapped in Bangladesh.

According to the BBC report, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto went to Dhaka in 1974 and expressed regret from the people of Bangladesh, but Pakistan never fully apologized. In 2002, Musharraf also expressed regret during the tour but he too never apologized.

At the same time, Pakistan’s stance on the property after the partition was always evasive. This is the reason why Bangladesh still considers these issues unresolved.

The situation remained the same on Sunday. Pakistan said that the old cases have been settled, while Bangladesh says that these disputes cannot be considered over until the responsibility of massacre and the outstanding property is resolved.

Pakistani minister visited Bangladesh 3 times in 1 year

Hussain said that Bangladesh’s attitude is very clear and cannot be compromised on these issues. He also stated that 1 agreement and 5 memories were signed between the two countries in the Sunday meeting, but there was no concrete progress on unresolved issues.

Tauheed Hussain admitted that just such a thing has been decided that the negotiations would be continued so that these disputes do not become an obstacle in the relationship between the two countries. He admitted that the issues of 1971 cannot be resolved in a day.

Last year, after Sheikh Hasina’s coup in Bangladesh, 3 PAK ministers have visited Bangladesh so far. Before Ishaq Dar, on August 21, Commerce Minister Kamal Jama Khan and before that Defense Minister Khwaja Asif reached Dhaka.

The purpose of these trips is to improve relations between the two countries. In fact, Bangladesh hanged Jamaat leader Abdul Qadir Mulla in 2013 for 1971 war crimes. It was criticized by Pakistan after which the relations between the two countries deteriorated.
