Bengal CM Mamata on Tuesday started the election campaign from Chalsa in Jalpaiguri district.
Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee resigned from 23 posts late Tuesday evening. Mamata Banerjee has given up her responsibilities in many government departments and bodies including State Health Mission, Wildlife Board, Eco-Tourism Advisory Board.
Apart from this, he has also distanced himself from bodies like Industrial Investment Promotion Board and State Disaster Management Authority. In the letter issued by the State Home Department, all concerned departments have been instructed to immediately start the process of accepting his resignation.
Departments have been instructed to submit reports on accepting resignations by 4 pm on Wednesday. This time Mamata Banerjee is contesting from Bhawanipur seat, where she is facing opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari.
Here, before the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, the Election Commission has increased the strictness. Goods worth ₹178.78 crore have been seized across the state so far. According to the Election Commission, the seized items include precious metals worth ₹112.37 crore and cash worth ₹34.64 crore.

Kamal Haasan’s party will not contest elections, actor said – support to DMK

Nomination of Congress candidate who contested against Himanta in Assam rejected
Congress has suffered a major setback before the Assam Assembly elections. The nomination papers of Congress candidate Bidisha Neog from Jalukbari, the high-profile seat of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, were rejected during scrutiny on Tuesday. The Election Commission has not yet disclosed the technical reasons for this major action.
Apart from Niyog, the papers of Congress candidates Anand Nara from Dhakuakhana and Nirmal Langthasa from Haflong have also been rejected. The matter of relief for Congress in Haflong is that the nomination of Cabinet Minister Nandita Garlosa, who left BJP, has been accepted. According to the Commission, a total of 18 nominations have been cancelled. These include 3 from JMM, 3 from VPI, 1 each from SUCI (C) and AJP, besides 8 independents.
