As a result, TMC had to make its Bhawanipur MLA resign and Mamata Banerjee reached the assembly after winning the by-election held here.

The political journey of Pavitra Kar has been quite interesting. He has previously been the head of Boyal-1 Gram Panchayat of Nandigram-2 block and is considered to have a strong hold in the area. In the year 2020, just before the assembly elections, he left TMC and joined BJP. He played an important role in strengthening the BJP organization in Nandigram, especially his contribution in increasing the party’s hold in Boyal-1 area is considered important. He was very close to Shubhendu Adhikari and his role is also said to be important in giving BJP lead in Nandigram in the 2021 Bengal elections.

Interesting contest on Nandigram seat

On the other hand, the contest between Mamata Banerjee and Subhendu Adhikari on Bhawanipur seat is also making this election more interesting. This time TMC will contest 291 seats out of 294, while three seats have been given to ally Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha. The party has also paid attention to social engineering.

TMC gave tickets to 53 women

Trinamool Congress has given tickets to 53 women, while 95 of its candidates are from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category. Voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on 23 and 29 April and the results will be declared on 4 May.
