Trump and Zelensky spoke to reporters standing outside the ‘Mar-a-Lago’ resort in Florida.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the US on Sunday for talks with President Donald Trump to end the war with Russia. Trump welcomed Zelensky at his resort ‘Mar-a-Lago’ in Florida, America.
Standing outside the resort, both the leaders spoke to journalists. Trump said- We are in the final round of negotiations. Let’s see what happens. Either the war will end, or it will continue for a very long time and millions of people will die.
The talks are taking place at a time when Russia has again intensified attacks on Ukraine’s capital Kiev with missiles and drones. The purpose of this meeting is to find a way for peace to end the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. Trump had put forward a peace plan last month, on which talks are now going on between the two countries.
Earlier there were 28 conditions in this plan, but now Ukraine has reduced it to 20 points. American officials are continuously talking to both the sides so that a middle path can be found. This is Zelensky’s fourth visit to America.
America claims- Zelensky agrees on 90% things
America says that consensus has been reached on most issues. Zelensky has agreed to about 90% of the things. Zelensky himself has admitted that a lot of progress has been made, but a complete agreement has not been reached yet. He said that finding peace is not easy, but every encounter takes us closer to it.
There are still some big questions remaining. The biggest question is regarding land. Russia wants Ukraine to give up its eastern region Donbass. Zelensky has said that if Russia agrees to stop the war first, then they will seek opinion from the people of their country and hold a referendum on this.
Another important issue is the Zaporizhia Nuclear Plant, which is currently under the control of Russia. Ukraine wants it to be run jointly by America and Ukraine and the electricity generated from it should be distributed between both.

Zelensky wants America to assure strong security to Ukraine, so that Russia cannot attack again in the future. American officials say that the security proposal that has been prepared is the strongest package so far.
Trump has said that he expects good results from the meeting with Zelensky, but he also said that the final decision will be taken only with his approval.
