Aishwarya Sengar, daughter of former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is serving a sentence in the Unnao rape case, presented her side while talking to ‘Aaj Tak’. He has raised serious questions on the justice process regarding this case. Aishwarya says that her father has strong evidence of innocence, which was continuously ignored.
Recently, after the Supreme Court imposed a stay on her father’s bail, Aishwarya said that she and her family were subjected to a ‘media trial’ for the last eight years.
Aishwarya raised questions on the statements of the victim and said that there is no truth in her claims. He alleged that the victim had declared her age to be 15 years in the court, whereas in a recent media interview she described herself as 17 years old. Aishwarya said, “You yourself first decide what your age was, because your statements are changing again and again.”
‘Evidence was ignored’
Aishwarya claims that her father has the CDR (Call Detail Record) location of the time of the incident and other technical evidence which proves his innocence. He said, “My father never even saw that girl, leave alone touching her. But due to media pressure and political influence, our side was ignored.”
Getting emotional during the interview, Aishwarya said that she is insulted in the society by calling her ‘rapist’s daughter’. He said that if the victim calls herself ‘daughter of the country’, then I am also the daughter of this country and I also have some rights. Expressing confidence in the judiciary, she said that she will present her facts strongly in the Supreme Court.
Aishwarya clearly said that she has full faith in the judiciary and she has all the evidence on paper. He appealed that decisions should not be based on emotions or media pressure, but on facts and evidence.
Aishwarya revealed that there has been a dispute between her family and the victim’s family since 2000 regarding the election of Pradhani. He alleged that during the elections in 2000, the victim’s uncle had fired at his uncle, after which a case was registered against him under Section 307. According to Aishwarya, “There are more than 17 cases registered against the victim’s uncle and he is currently in Tihar jail.”
