A case has been registered against a private university professor in Bengaluru, Karnataka for calling a student a terrorist. A 58-second video of the incident is viral. The police took suo motu notice on the matter. The incident is of March 24. According to the FIR, the student from the particular community asked the professor for permission to go out of the class. The professor got angry at this. He said- Don’t you feel ashamed…terrorist? The professor did not stop here, he said- I thought that I would be very quiet today. Iran war happened because of people like you. Trump will take you. You idiot…you will go to hell. The victim was repeatedly called a terrorist. According to the police, the professor repeatedly called the student a terrorist in the class and used abusive language with him. There were 60 students present in the class at the time of the incident. Police say that no formal complaint has been received from the student, but a case has been registered against the professor under sections 299 (attempt to hurt religious sentiments) and 352 (intentional insult) of BNS. Allegation- Fellow student suspended for supporting the victim. It is alleged that the victim student was suspended when his fellow students supported and protested against the behavior of the professor. Students were asked to suppress the matter. Apart from this, pressure was also created to remove the video from social media. The accused professor did not apologize to the victim. In this case, the professor has given a written apology to the college, but did not apologize directly to the victim student. The HOD of the department apologized to the students on behalf of the professor. However, on March 27, the professor was suspended.
