Ateli assembly seat of Haryana has become a hot seat this time. The reason for this is Aarti Rao, the political heir of Rampura House of Southern Haryana, contesting elections from here on a BJP ticket. This is Aarti Rao’s debut in electoral politics. She is contesting elections for the first time.
.
Aarti Rao is the daughter of Rao Indrajit, who has been made Union Minister of State for the second consecutive time in the Modi 3.0 government at the Centre. Rao Indrajit has been an MP six times in both Congress and BJP. Aarti Rao is pitted against Congress’ Anita Yadav and INLD-BSP’s Thakur Atar Lal here.
Anita Yadav was an MLA from here in 2009. After this, she was a Congress candidate in the 2014 and 2019 elections but lost. Anita, like Aarti, is also from the Ahir community.
Anita is getting sympathy after losing two consecutive elections here. Apart from this, Anita is also getting the benefit of anti-incumbency wave due to 10 years of BJP government in the state. The inclination of SC voters here is also believed to be towards Congress to some extent.
The third candidate against Aarti and Anita is INLD-BSP’s Thakur Atarlal. He is a Rajput but the Rajput vote bank here is only 8%. However, due to the alliance with BSP, he seems to be getting the benefit of 20% Scheduled Caste vote bank.
Atar Lal has been active in politics here for 20 years. He has been contesting elections for 15 years but has not won even once. Despite this, he keeps visiting people’s homes in Ateli. Even during the campaign, he is saying that this is his last election. Due to which the sympathy of Ahir voters is also with him.
Apart from Aarti and Anita, Ayushi Rao of JJP-Azad Samaj Party is also from the Ahir community. If the Ahir voters are divided among these three, then Thakur Atar Lal can also surprise.
At present, a triangular contest is seen on this seat. In which the biggest challenge to win is for Rao Indrajit’s daughter Aarti Rao.
Understand the equation of Ateli Vidhansabha in 4 points
1. There are 2 lakh 7 thousand voters in Ateli. Most of them are Ahir voters. These voters decide the victory or defeat. Half of the 2.07 lakh voters are Ahir. This is the reason why major political parties like BJP and Congress give tickets to Ahir candidates here.
Scheduled castes have 20% votes in second place. However, they do not vote unitedly in favour of any one party. Rajput voters are also 8% here but due to lack of deciding, they are also not one-sided.
2. Since 1967, in 13 elections and one by-election, only Ahir candidates have won this seat. In these 14 elections, two independent candidates won from here and they too were from the Ahir community. This is the reason why this time too BJP has fielded Aarti Rao from the Ahir community and Congress has fielded Anita Yadav.
JJP has also given ticket to Aayushi Rao, who also comes from Ahir community. However, INLD-BSP has given ticket to Thakur Atarlal who comes from Rajput community.
3. Traditionally, Ateli seat has been a stronghold of Congress. In 14 elections, Congress won the election from here 6 times. Vishal Haryana Party won 3 times. The interesting thing is that Rao Birendra Singh, who won once from Congress and once from Vishal Haryana Party, is the grandfather of BJP candidate Aarti Rao.
Independents won from here twice. Lok Dal won once and Independents won twice. BJP opened its account on this seat after 42 years in 2014. However, after 2014, BJP won this seat twice in 2019.
4.In the 14 elections of this seat, there have been 9 elections when the margin of victory or defeat was less than 3 thousand. However, BJP won one-sidedly in the last 2 assembly elections. The reason for this is believed to be the dominance of Rao Indrajit. Due to which Rao has chosen this Ateli seat for his daughter’s political debut.

Aarti was elected with the support of her father Rao Indrajit Aarti Rao is a new candidate here, due to which her entire election is being managed by Rao Indrajit Singh and his supporters. The voters here also trust Rao Indrajit Singh instead of Aarti Rao. BJP’s star campaigner Rao Indrajit has come twice to campaign for his daughter as compared to other seats.
Rao Indrajit is being given more prominence than Aarti in her election campaign posters. This is her first election, so she has less personal influence among the people. She may also have to face anti-incumbency due to the 10-year rule of BJP in the state.
People are also saying that if Aarti wins, then one will have to go abroad or to Gurugram to meet her. Her being an outsider also has a slight impact among the voters.

Anita says, I will get Ateli the status of sub-division Anita Yadav is an old candidate from here. She has also won the assembly elections from here on a Congress seat in 2009. So she has an old connection with the people here, which is now coming in handy for her. After coming to power, she is also talking about giving Ateli the status of a sub-division.
Congress candidate Anita Yadav was an MLA from here in 2009. She is contesting the election on the issue of 10 years of neglect of Ateli and is in the field with her old works. But she faces the challenge of breaking the two-time consecutive victory of BJP.

Atarlal has been struggling for 15 years This time people’s sympathy seems to be with Atarlal. Atarlal has been working in Ateli for the last 15 years. He stood second here in the 2019 assembly elections and got 37,387 votes. People say that if Atarlal loses this time too, his political career will be over.
INLD-BSP’s Thakur Atar Lal is raising the issues of education and unemployment. He is also talking about being local among the people and calling Aarti and Anita outsider candidates. Jannayak Janata Party’s Ayushi Rao is in the election fray on the issue of development.

JJP’s Aayushi got ticket in place of her husband Ayushi Rao, who is contesting from here on the Jannayak Janata Party ticket, is the husband of Abhimanyu Rao, a senior Congress leader and former minister, Captain Ajay Singh Yadav. Abhimanyu Rao was supposed to get the ticket instead of Ayushi Rao, but the party gave the ticket to Ayushi Rao.

What do Atali voters say
Vote for the party, not the candidate Businessman Santosh Kumar said that he is not looking at the candidate. He looks at the Bharatiya Janata Party and Modi. People here have got jobs without spending money and without any slips. That is why his vote is with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Aarti Rao lives abroad Anil, head of the Dhobi community, said that Aarti Rao lives abroad, even if she wins the election, to meet her one will have to go either to Gurgaon or abroad, whereas Anita of the Congress is a local here.

Drive out the outsiders, bring in our own people Narpat Singh said that this time the election is about ‘drive out outsiders and bring in our own people’. Here both Anita and Aarti belong to Rewari outside Ateli. That is why people are opposing them.
Congress will come in Ateli assembly Hiralal said that this time Congress is dominating the region. Congress will win in Ateli assembly along with the state. Ramesh Sisodia said that the contest is triangular and it is not yet known who will win.
There will be a contest between 3 candidates Parmeshwar Dayal said that there is a tough competition here and the contest will be between the three. Mahavir said that people are more inclined towards the Congress party and this time the Congress government will be formed.
A close competition for all Senior journalist Jitendra Solanki says that this area is a Yadav dominated area. Since 1952, only a Yadav has been elected MLA here. But this time there is a triangular contest. Which way the voters will turn is not known yet. There is a close competition among all.
