But during the match, Moroccan fans started throwing bottles at the Argentine players and came on the field. Due to the controversy, the match had to be stopped for about two hours.
The controversy arose in extra time, when Cristian Medina scored in the 90+16th minute to bring Argentina level at 2-2. However, Medina was offside and the referee ruled it off.
Morocco won the match 2-1 at the Geoffrey Guichard Stadium in Saint-Etienne. The team defeated two-time gold medalist Argentina.

After the match, the anger of Argentine players and fans was also seen. Argentine legend Lionel Messi also posted on Instagram and wrote ‘strange’.

After the result of the match, Messi wrote ‘Insolito’ in his Insta story with an emoji, which means ‘strange’ in English and ‘weird’ in Hindi.

After the uproar, it seemed that the full time of the match was over. Even the full time of the match was shown on FIFA’s official website. However, 2 hours after the match was stopped, the players were called back to the field and after warming up and playing for 3 minutes, the match was completed.
