Russian President Vladimir Putin has described India as a great power and said that PM Modi does not come under any pressure. He said this in an interview given to India Today in Moscow.

Putin spoke openly on PM Modi’s leadership, India-Russia relations, global politics and America’s policies. Putin said that Modi is not one of the leaders who comes under pressure and India is emerging as a great power in the world.

When he was asked whether America was trying to create political pressure on India by imposing tariffs, Putin clearly said that India follows its independent policy.

Taking a jibe at America, Putin said that Washington buys nuclear energy from us and then tries to impart knowledge. Tries to blame India for buying oil from Russia. This is a clear double standards, which the major economies of the world are now realizing.

Putin said- I am excited about coming to India

Putin also said that he is looking forward to meeting PM Modi and is very excited about his visit to India. Earlier, both the leaders had met on September 1 during the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China.

Referring to the SCO summit, Putin said that he and PM Modi were sitting together in the same car and it was his own suggestion. He told that even after the car stopped, the two leaders talked for a long time.

Putin said- India’s role in global order is very special

Regarding India’s economic progress, Putin said that the country’s growth rate of 7.7% is a big success in itself and it is the result of PM Modi’s leadership. India can be proud of this.

He said that the rapid development that India has achieved in just 77 years inspires the entire world. There are always some people who say things could have been done better, but the results speak for themselves.

Putin also said that 90% of trade transactions between India and Russia have been successfully completed. He said that the global order is now moving towards a multi-polar structure, in which the role of powers like India will be very important.

Putin said- I do not believe in looking back

Talking about the agreements to be signed during his visit to India, Putin said that many big agreements are going to be signed between the two countries. These include sectors like space, satellite technology, nuclear energy, aviation, nuclear submarine technology, defense industry and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

He said that these technologies will form the basis of future relations and economic cooperation. When Putin was asked if he regretted anything during his 25-year rule, he said, “I never look back and always believe in moving forward.”
