Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has warned the Trump administration over relations with India.
In her article written in Newsweek magazine, Nikki said that if the trust in 25 years with India is broken, then it will be a strategic mistake.
Nikki has written this article about Trump’s 50% tariff imposed on India and the impact on the relationship between its two countries. He has advised the Trump administration to consider India as another democratic partner.
Nikki said- Tariff imposed on India, not on China
Nikki further wrote in her article that there is no restriction on China despite buying oil from Russia, while India is being imposed on American tariffs. According to Haley, it shows that America-India relations need to be seriously focused on.
Haley said that India is the country that can balance China’s growing strength in Asia. The former ambassador also said that India is the fastest growing big economy in the world and will soon surpass Japan. This emergence of India is the biggest challenge for China’s ambition.
He warned that if the business dispute between the US and India was extended for a long time, China would take advantage of it. He suggested that President Donald Trump talk directly to PM Modi and bring the relationship back on track.

According to former US National Security Advisor John Bolton, India’s policies are getting away from America.
In an interview to CNN on 9 August, he called the decision to impose a total of 50% tariff on India as a huge mistake. Bolton has expressed apprehension that the extra tariff imposed on India to weaken Russia does not turn anywhere.
He said that America was trying for many years to keep India away from Russia and China, but now that effort has weakened.
Former NSA said that the purpose of imposing tariffs on India is to harm Russia, but the result may be that India, Russia and China unite and oppose these tariffs.
