Taking strict action against drug trade, Panchkula Police has deported a Nigerian drug smuggler from India after completing his sentence under the NDPS Act. The accused was arrested by Panchkula Police on 11 February 2023 for playing the role of heroin supplier.

DCP and Foreigner Registration Officer Srishti Gupta said that a case was registered against the accused in Chandigarh under the NDPS Act on July 4, 2018. In which he was arrested on the same day. The verdict in this case was given by the court on 10 March 2023. On September 22, 2025, Sessions Judge Ved Prakash Sirohi ordered to deport the accused after completion of his sentence.

In compliance with the orders of the court, all the necessary legal formalities were completed by Inspector Sombir Dhaka, in-charge of Police Station Sector-20 and clerk constable Sarvesh Kumar posted in the Foreigners Registration Office. As per the guidelines issued by the Home Secretary, Haryana Government, the necessary documents were completed from the Nigeria Embassy.

DCP Srishti Gupta said in her statement, “Panchkula Police is working unitedly against drug trafficking. The police is not only taking action against drug smugglers in the district, but is also keeping a close watch on the illegal drug trade by foreign nationals. Deporting such criminals after completion of their sentence is an important part under the law.
