8 July 2022When the Sri Lankan government announced that the country had gone bankrupt, thousands of Sri Lankans took to the streets. They surrounded the President’s House in Colombo from all sides. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had to flee from here. Angry people had taken over the President’s House. They were seen relaxing in the rooms here and bathing in the swimming pool.
5 August 2024: The anti-reservation movement that has been going on for a month in Bangladesh has gone out of control. After the death of 100 people in 24 hours, about 4 lakh people are on the streets of Dhaka. The protesters entered the PM House carrying out massive arson, violence and vandalism. PM Sheikh Hasina has resigned and left the country. She is reported to have taken refuge in India.
