Hisar assembly seat of Haryana is in the headlines because Savitri Jindal, the country’s richest woman and mother of BJP MP from Kurukshetra Naveen Jindal, is contesting the election as an independent candidate. Savitri Jindal was seeking ticket from BJP, but BJP rejected former minister Dr.
.
At the same time, Congress has nominated Ramniwas Rada, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has nominated Sanjay Satarodia, INLD-BSP has nominated Shyamlal Garg, JJP-SP has nominated Ravi Ahuja. Apart from these, outgoing Hisar Mayor Gautam Sardana is also rebelling against BJP and contesting the elections as an independent candidate.
There are around 1.82 lakh voters in Hisar assembly seat. Of these, there are 95772 male voters and 85535 female voters. No independent candidate has won the election from Hisar seat in the last 5 elections. However, this time people believe that there is a triangular contest on this seat between BJP, Congress and independent candidate Savitri Jindal.
The number of voters from Vaishya and Punjabi communities in this seat is almost equal. Apart from this, Saini voters also play a decisive role. Dr. Kamal Gupta and Savitri Jindal come from Vaishya community. Ramnivas belongs to Rada Saini community and Gautam Sardana belongs to Punjabi community.
According to people, after being MLA for two consecutive terms, Kamal Gupta is facing anti-incumbency. Savitri Jindal and Gautam Sardana have increased their problems by rebelling against BJP. In such a situation, BJP’s votes will be divided at 3 places. People are demanding change, which can benefit Rada, but factionalism in the party is the biggest challenge before him. Savitri Jindal has also been a Congressman.
Understand the equations of Hisar Assembly in 5 points
- In Hisar seat, the number of Punjabi community voters is 31 thousand, Vaishya 24 thousand, Saini 17 thousand, Jat 16 thousand and Brahmin voters are around 11 thousand. If we look at the trend of last 3 elections, BJP has benefited from the votes of Punjabi, Vaishya and Brahmin community. This time the votes of Punjabi and Vaishya community will be divided between Kamal Gupta, Savitri Jindal and Gautam Sardana. Kamal Gupta will be the biggest loser.
- If we talk about the last 10 elections, MLAs from Vaishya community have been elected 7 times. Apart from this, twice a candidate from Punjabi community and once from Saini community has become MLA.
- The Jindal family has dominated the Hisar seat. Omprakash Jindal has become MLA thrice and Savitri Jindal has become MLA twice. Apart from the hold on the Vaishya community, the Jindal family also has a personal vote bank.
- The party whose MLA has been elected from this seat in the last 5 elections has formed the government in the state. The last time in 1996, Omprakash Mahajan, an independent from the Punjabi community, had won the election. This time, outgoing Mayor Gautam Sardana is in the fray.
- After becoming MLA for two consecutive terms, there is resentment among the people against Kamal Gupta. Independent candidates can benefit from this.

Kamal Gupta is seeking votes on 10 years of work Dr. Kamal Gupta became MLA for the first time in 2014. Then he was made CPS in the government of Manohar Lal Khattar. He won again in the 2019 assembly elections. Then he was given the responsibility of Municipal Minister. After Nayab Saini became the Chief Minister in 2024, he was handed over the Health and Aviation departments.
In this election, Kamal Gupta is seeking votes on the basis of his 10 years of work. He is talking to the public on issues like providing better connectivity to Hisar, good roads, clean drinking water, construction of airport, rail, increase in property due to airport, making Hisar a medical and education hub.
Apart from this, the renovation of squares in Hisar and the welcome gate being built in Hisar are being raised among the people. Along with this, he is cornering Congress on misgovernance.

Savitri Jindal on the trust of her old team The country’s richest woman Savitri Jindal is recognized not only in Hisar but in the entire country. Savitri entered politics after the death of her husband Omprakash Jindal in a helicopter crash in 2005. In the same year, she became MLA in the by-election held on Hisar seat. After this, in 2009, Congress made him its candidate again and won. In 2014, she lost the election to BJP’s Kamal Gupta.
After this he distanced himself from politics. He did not contest the assembly elections in 2019. In 2024, his son Naveen Jindal left Congress and joined BJP. BJP fielded him from Kurukshetra and won. Savitri Jindal was seeking ticket from BJP from Hisar seat in the assembly elections, but BJP did not give her the ticket. After this he decided to contest the elections as an independent.
Now Savitri is not attacking BJP among the public but is cashing in on the resentment among Kamal Gupta’s people. She is also talking about facilities like dilapidated roads, sewerage system and drinking water. Savitri Jindal is relying on her old team for campaigning. Where she herself is not able to go, her team is reaching there. She is targeting women voters through pink colored pamphlets and election campaign material. She is telling people that this is her last election.

Rada attacks BJP on basic facilities
Ramniwas Rada is close to Congress MP from Sirsa Kumari Selja. In 2019 also, Congress had given ticket to Ramnivas Rada. Then he lost the election to BJP’s Kamal Gupta by about 16 thousand votes. Saini voters are at third highest in Hisar. The vote of Saini community is considered decisive. Only people of Rada family are included in Saini Trust.
In this election he is raising the issue of the poor condition of the city. He is continuously visiting those areas where Kamal Gupta did not go while being an MLA for 10 years. He is cornering BJP regarding basic facilities. Issues like cattle, broken roads, waterlogging and sewerage system in the city are being put before the public. Instead of contesting against independent Savitri Jindal, he is planning a contest with the BJP candidate so that polarization of votes can be prevented.

What do the voters of Hisar say…
Sushil Kumar said- Public wants to see change Sushil Kumar, a shopkeeper at Sabzi Mandi Chowk, says that this time there is an atmosphere of Savitri Jindal. Only she will win. Kamal Gupta did not get any work done here while being an MLA. People were harassed in the name of property tax, property ID, no dues certificate. I say that change is necessary. Kamal Gupta has become MLA twice. Now it is not right to make it for the third time also. Now someone else should get a chance.

Suresh said- clash between Rada and Jindal Suresh Kumar, a resident of Barwali Dhani, said that the main contest here is between Ramnivas Rada and Savitri Jindal. Ramniwas Rada will be at number one and Savitri Jindal will be at number two. BJP will not win from Hisar this time. Kamal Gupta has failed. Kamal Gupta did not do any work here.

Nanak Chand said – Even the road was not built in the locality Nanak Chand, a resident of Dogran Mohalla, says that in Hisar there is a competition between Savitri Jindal and Ram Niwas Rada. Right now we cannot say who is leading, both are equal. Kamal Gupta has been MLA for 10 years, but no work has been done which would provide relief to the public. Even roads were not built in our locality. An airport is being built, but what will the general public get from it?
Vinod Nagar Mill Gate area is near the airport. Our relatives there say that the airport is just a show. The airport went to UP, Yogi Adityanath took it before us. Now nothing can be done here. We will remain as we were.

Mahavir said- Rada sociable person
Mahavir, a resident of Mahavir Colony, says that the good wind is blowing from Ram Niwas Rada in Hisar. He is a religious man. Serves cows. There is no flaw in the Congress candidate. Whenever someone meets him, he meets with great love.

Krishnalal Sharma said – the competition is equal in both Krishnalal Sharma, a resident of DC Colony, said that there is an atmosphere of BJP in Hisar. Savitri Jindal has come as an independent candidate, she is contesting against Kamal Gupta. There is competition between both. Kamal Gupta has got a lot of work done. Kamal Gupta may not have got personal work done by anyone, but he has got a lot of public work done. There are no roads and parks like Hisar. Modi factor is also going on.

Expert said- BJP’s vote will be divided in 3 places Senior journalist Kumar Mukesh says that independent candidate Savitri Jindal is giving a tough competition to BJP and Congress in Hisar. Savitri Jindal is cashing in on her good image. She has stayed away from elections for 5 years. Voters do not see any shortcomings in him. But the challenge before him is to garner non-BJP votes.
There is also talk among the people in the city that she will join BJP after winning the elections. Therefore, only time will tell how much non-BJP voters will vote for him. But, BJP candidate Kamal Gupta is facing anti-incumbency. BJP’s vote is getting divided at 3 places. BJP’s vote will be divided among Gautam Sardana, Savitri Jindal and Kamal Gupta. Congress candidate Ramniwas Rada is strong, but he may suffer loss due to factionalism in Congress.
