Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Expressway is almost ready. Some minor finishing work is in the final stages, after which it will be opened to the general public. With the opening of this 210 kilometer long modern corridor, the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun will reduce to about two and a half hours, whereas at present the journey takes 6 to 7 hours.

This expressway was built at a cost of about Rs 11,970 crore. Delhi-It is being called Dehradun Corridor. Its objective is to connect the capital Delhi with the capital Dehradun of Uttarakhand in a fast and safe manner. This expressway starts from Akshardham in Delhi and goes to Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

Construction work in the last phase, expressway will open soon

A large part of this corridor is elevated. The elevated portion starts near Geeta Colony. This six-lane wide highway gives a comfortable and fast travel experience to the passengers. According to NHAI engineers, this project has been prepared in different packages so that the work can be completed quickly.

The first toll booth of this corridor has been built near Loni. Arrangements for ambulance and highway patrol have been made every 17 kilometers. In case of any emergency, immediate help will be provided by calling number 1033. Trial runs have also been successfully conducted in many parts.

210 km long corridor will reduce travel time

This expressway passes through Delhi, Baghpat, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur and then enters Uttarakhand. A route has also been provided to connect the Eastern Peripheral Expressway with this corridor near Baghpat at a distance of 31 kilometers. Beyond Baghpat, this corridor is called Greenfield Expressway, where the view of the fields of western Uttar Pradesh on both sides makes the journey special.

Modern arrangements have been made on the highway for the convenience and safety of passengers. Special facilities will be provided every 30 kilometers, where there will be arrangements for charging electric vehicles and food and drinks. Special technology has been used to prevent accidents.

After Saharanpur, this highway becomes elevated again in Uttarakhand. Special care has been taken for the safety of wildlife in this part passing between Shivalik and Rajaji National Park. An elevated road has been built to ensure that there is no hindrance in the movement of animals. Sound barriers and special lighting have been installed so that light and sound do not affect the forest.

After passing through about 300 meter long tunnel, this route reaches Dehradun. The tunnel has been decorated with pictures and artefacts related to the cultural identity of Uttarakhand. According to officials, the remaining work is being completed rapidly and soon this expressway will be opened for the general public.
